When we think of homelessness, we often think of the dangers of the cold. As we enter the third day in a row of 95+ degree temperatures, we are reminded of the many life-threatening conditions that increase the mortality of people experiencing homelessness.
At CCEH we are committed to not only working with our partners and communities to addressing these causes of increased mortality, but to working with those same committed agencies and folks like you to create the solutions to prevent homelessness, make available necessary services to those who need them, and create, and move people into, housing.
June brings not only excessive heat, it brings challenges for working families and students who no longer have access school and associated resources, it brings higher utility bills which can strain already stressed budgets, it brings challenges for those who need to commute without reliable access to a climate controlled vehicle. In short, the heat of summer can push a household into a housing crisis and prove deadly for those who are already unhoused.
June is also the end of our fiscal year, and we ask you to please consider making gift before June 30 to support our efforts to put an end to these challenges and work through collective change, training and education, policy and advocacy, and a deep commitment to universal justice, to prevent and solve homelessness for all in our state.
Thank you for all you already do, and thank you for your continued support.
With gratitude,
The CCEH Team
