Dear Families,
On May 5, 2020, Governor Pritzker released his
Reopen Illinois
plan, which outlined when schools will be able to open for in-person instruction. According to the Governor’s plan, schools will open up once the state enters phase four of the plan. Currently, our state is in phase two of the
Reopen Illinois
plan. With that said, we are unable to offer our Summer Academy as an in-person experience for our students. Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide our enrichment classes in an eLearning format. However, our summer school directors and our administrative team have been working to provide families with a reading and math summer jumpstart to review and reinforce grade-level concepts and skills. All Pleasantdale students entering Kindergarten through eighth-grade in the fall are welcome to register for the jumpstart classes.
Our Summer Academy will be offered in an eLearning format and will focus on Reading and Math skills. Summer Academy will run from June 22 through July 17, and we will hold classes Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Classes are restricted to 15 students per section, and space is limited. The program will follow a structure where students are provided daily direct instruction via Zoom video conference and independent engaging activities. Teachers will then be available for office hours and to meet with students, either one-on-one or in small groups. Students in grades K-4 will be assigned a single classroom teacher, and students in grades 5-8 will have separate math and reading teachers.
The cost of the program is $150.00 for the full four weeks. Families who registered for the summer academy prior to the stay-at-home order will be issued a refund. Anyone wishing to enroll in eLearning Summer Academy will need to register. Registration for our eLearning Summer Academy opens on May 18 and will close on May 29. A registration email will be sent from our Summer Academy directors on May 17.
While we are disappointed that we are not able to offer an in-person Summer Academy, we are excited to provide our families with this wonderful alternative. If you have questions about our eLearning Summer Academy, please reach out to our Summer Academy Director, Erin Berwick, at

.
Be well,
