The graduation of the 67th class was held on July 3, 2021. Seventy-one students were presented with diplomas. The school's Chaplain, Mrs. Manal Haddad, served as emcee. She was assisted by three class members, Joan Simaan, Mai Mansour, and Tamer Abu Nassar. The class sang beautifully "Father God" and "You are my All in All". An ensemble of students from the 9th grade presented a string and other instrument arrangement.

The program included speeches by: Dr. Nahel Asfor, on behalf of the NBS Board; three students, Luna Karkaby, Layal Mazzawi; and Maya Abu Assad. Botrus Mansour, Director of Operations, recognized Friends of Nazareth for its contributions during the school year.

Dr. Aziz Daeem, High School Principal, challenged the students to be "Salt and Light" in the world. He used scripture from Matthew 5: 13-16.

The highlight of each NBS graduation is the film that the students produce which captures their experiences. Great job, 67th Class! Congratulations! May God bless and guide each of you.
Botrus Safi, a 10th grade student, has been selected to join the Israeli Philharmonic for young people. He plays the Cello. Congratulations!
Fathi Saed, 10th grade student, receives a silver medal in boxing at the Israeli National Championship. Well done!
The 2020-21 school year was odd for sure...there was only one in-person chapel service during the 2020-21 school year. This chapel service took place at the end of the school year.
One of the foundational values of NBS is to give. Following the eleven day uprising between Israel and Gaza, students decided to conduct a fundraising project for the Ahli Anglican Hospital in Gaza. This hospital treats over 45,000 patients annually and often its medical supplies are marginal. They provide Christian compassion and care to the local population.

Collectively, the NBS students raised about $10,000...AMAZING! Great job, students!

A team of NBS students presented a digital project to the Ministry of Education. Friends of Nazareth sought some grant funds to help support the cost of the program. FON was awarded a grant of $1000, about 20% of the cost, from the Long-Lewis Foundation in North Alabama,

The program called "3 Dimensional Zoom" was approved and helps the students Zoom In for inner reflection; Zoom Out to look at their surroundings; and Zoom Up to connect with their faith. The intent of the program is to help students navigate changing life situations.
There are 175 students from grades K-5th who are enrolled in a free and fully funded Ministry of Education sponsored program. The program includes about 50% academic enrichment classes in Math, English, Arabic, and Science. These classes are intended to strengthen the student's level of competency and help bridge any gap lost due to the pandemic. The other 50% of the program includes social, spiritual, and nature experiences. NBS was able to include Bible study and Chapel as part of the mix. Thanks, Niveen and Ibtisam, for leading the spiritual component of the program.

Students have enjoyed a fun water day along with a nature presentation where students got up close and personal with bunnies, snakes, and other wildlife.

Primary school teachers, two NBS graduates, and a few teachers from other schools comprised the staff. We are grateful that the students were able to have some type of "camp" experience; but, the FON teams are certainly missed!
Spiritual Enrichment Journey Canceled
Due to the spike in the Delta variant and the uncertainty of when Israel will reopen its borders, it became clear that the time for this SEJ was not going to work. We had 27 very disappointed travelers!

Stay tuned for a rescheduled SEJ, hopefully in 2022.
Mike and Mimi Brookshire are in the USA for a time of sabbatical and building awareness for the Family and Kids Ministry at Nazareth Baptist School. Please pray for them, for their family, and for their return to Nazareth in August.
