Take the Summer Learning Challenge! Kids! Teens! Adults!

June 1 is just around the corner, which means our annual Summer Learning Challenge is about to begin! Are you ready to take the Challenge and participate in all the fun things we have lined up this summer, from magic shows to concerts to book clubs?

NEWS FROM THE FRIENDS

Join us for our 50th Anniversary and Summer Learning Celebration on Sunday, June 12 from 11am–2pm behind the Downtown Library. There will be a book sale, with all book sale items at $.50 cents each to celebrate 50 years, plus a wonderful kickoff party with games, crafts and prizes for children in honor of our Library’s biggest annual event–the Summer Learning Challenge!

Mobile Medical for Veterans

The Downtown Library will host a visit from the VA Palo Alto's Mobile Medical Team from 10am to 2pm on May 31. On-site medical examinations, consultations, and referrals for Veterans enrolled in VA Health Care.

Film Screening: Happy

Join us for a free screening of the documentary film Happy. Happy takes us on a journey in search of what really makes people happy. 
Followed by a discussion of the film's themes in relation to mental health.

Take action for mental health by creating a unique journal that you can use to document your daily moods, express gratitude, make sense of life events, and more! In the Makerspace.

WED MAY 25, 6:30pm
Advanced sewists can drop in during this evening session to use the library’s sewing equipment.

THU MAY 26, 6pm
Learners of all ages and experience levels are welcome. In the Makerspace.

SAT MAY 28, 2pm
In honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month we'll be exploring a variety of hand sewing techniques: sashiko (Japan), bojagi (Korea), and appliqué quilting (Hawai'i).

TUE MAY 31, 12pm
Please join us for a lively discussion in the Small Conference Room of Eley Williams' "The Liar's Dictionary".

THU JUN 2, 10:15am
Join us for a hands-on workshop on quilt-making and quilters who sew patterns passed down for generations. All ages are welcome to this program celebrating the upcoming Juneteenth holiday.

SAT JUN 4, 2pm
Create a replica of the Juneteenth flag and other crafts and activities.
