SUMMER LEARNING CHALLENGE IS HERE
Kids! Teens! Adults! Everyone can take the challenge. Read, listen and learn all summer long. Free books! Prizes! Virtual programs and performances!

The Library's Summer Learning Challenge changes students’ lives for the better, improving academic achievement and readiness to learn. Sign-ups begin today and you'll have from June 1-August 31st to complete the challenge. Just for registering, all participants 18 years and under get a free book. It can be picked up in-person at any of three Redwood City Public Library locations during our RCPL Limited Edition hours or at the Summer Learning Challenge walk-up window at the Downtown Library, parking lot B. RCPL LIMITED EDITION
Last week, we opened our doors to you for RCPL Limited Edition service!

We are so thrilled to welcome you back to browse our collections, pick up holds, get new (or renewed) library cards, use computers for one-hour sessions, and a few more express services. Customers that wish to use the curbside pickup drop-in service can still do so at the Downtown Library. No appointment is necessary.
PRIDE MONTH AT THE LIBRARY
The City Council proclaimed June to be Pride Month in Redwood City, a time to celebrate our LGBTQ+ neighbors. Today, Redwood City Parks, Recreation & Community Services hosted a Facebook Live of the raising of the Pride flag on Courthouse Square. Go here to watch the recording.

Here are our programs and services in observance of Pride Month:
  • Explore stories from across the spectrum of gender and sexuality by selecting an LGBTQ+ Voices custom Next Read list.
  • Register for our Juneteen Author Talk with Dana TherActivist Johnson. The event is an intersectional look at identity, diversity, equity and inclusion.

Storytime Outside the Library
Live storytime is back on Thursdays starting June 3rd! Storytime Outside the Library is a weekly storytime for all ages in the Downtown Library's Roselli Park on Thursdays at 10am. ⁠

YA Author: Misa Sugiura
Misa will be discussing her latest book Love & Other Natural Disasters in a virtual meet and greet on June 16. Register to pick up a signed copy of her book before the event.

Girls* Change-Making Task Force

Are you passionate about social justice? Are you excited by the prospect of telling your own story? Can you think of a creative media or activist project you'd like to take on? Then you're in the right place! Join us for this 6-week virtual program that is dynamic, engaging, and empowering.

In partnership with Redwood City Public Library and About-Face.org. Sponsored by Friends of the Redwood City Public Library and a grant from Generation Girl, Applied Materials.

Learn how meditation can improve our physical and mental health and how to apply techniques that can promote inner growth.

Join us every week for an Extreme Jackbox Party with party packs 3, 4, 5 and 6. Compete for ultimate bragging rights and your chance to win your own party pack! Thursdays June 8-Aug 17.

WED JUN 9, 10am
EarthCapades teaches environmental awareness through acrobatics, juggling, comedy and live music. Have fun and save the planet!

THURSDAYS, 10am
Learn West African dance and South Asian dance styles, including Bhangra and Bollywood! These fun and energetic classes will be sure to have you dancing, learning, and smiling!

SAT JUN 19, 12pm
The TherActivist embodies a therapeutic activism approach, while servicing and empowering people of color, LGBTQ+ communities, and marginalized populations.

  • Curbside drop-in service for holds pick-up is available at the Downtown Library during open hours
  • Bookdrops are open to accept returns
  • Computers for 1-hour use are available at all locations during open hours
  • Our events are online! Check our calendar here.
  • Meeting room reservations are not available at this time
  • Borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks; use streaming TV, movie, and music services; and access digital subscriptions to newspapers and magazines here.
