Summer Meals Available for Children
This summer through July 30, GCS is offering grab & go meals at 41 schools and 64 neighborhood locations for children under the age of 18. Meals are available from 11 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday. An additional meal will be offered on Thursday for use on Friday.
GCS Offers College and Career Readiness Guides
NEW!

GCS is providing students with College and Career Readiness Guides, which offer a personalized roadmap to show students who are pursuing a diploma where they are now and what they need to do next to accomplish their goals. The guides indicate the student’s progress toward graduation, suggested colleges to consider, college entrance requirements, suggested career fields and career and technical education pathways.

The hope is that students and parents will review the documents thoroughly and speak to their counselors about what it means for their class registration and college planning.

Starting July 6, Check Your Mailbox for FREE Books
Summer is here--celebrate with some good books!

Students who read at least 900 minutes this summer will have their choice of one free ticket to either Maize Adventure corn maze or Spooky Woods haunted attraction.

Summer learning loss is an issue every year, but this year it is more of a challenge than ever. GCS is anticipating that the loss of classroom time since March will affect student progress for the next several years. Reading is a great way to engage the brain and keep students on track.

To participate in the  summer reading challenge , students should read at least 900 minutes between June 11 and Aug. 24, and submit a completed reading log to their media specialist by Sept 1, 2020. GCS and local libraries offer a variety of  eBooks  for students to download and enjoy.

Need books? GPA will mail free books to families starting July 6. Stay tuned for more details on how to get free books this summer without leaving your home.
