PRBC Summer Memories...

We have come to love our backyard as an oasis of sorts, and we love nothing more than sharing it with all of you. It’s always a different group of people. Long time members and new folks alike attend. Everyone who comes always gets to meet someone new while reconnecting with old friends. So be sure and mark your calendar and join us for our last summer backyard meet and greet on August 24.

Next week, August 15, 2023 we have a little Newsletter Vacation. Be on the look for our next Newsletter on August 23, 2023 with important details about our upcoming Kick-Off Sunday on Sunday, August 27^th!

Come and join us on Saturday, August 12 from 10:30-1p at Roof Above. PRBC volunteers prepare and serve lunch to homeless guests on the 2nd Saturday of every other month. Roof above is located at the shelter at 1210 N. Tryon St.

We are getting to a critical number of hosts to be able to have everyone participating in Neighbor Nights within 10 minutes of their host. Please reach out to JD if you want to participate via email or text if you haven’t already. Notify him with any questions. Once September 1 arrives, he will begin mapping the neighborhoods and sending out surveys around allergies, dietary needs, etc. to place everyone in an appropriate setting.

• Tuesday, August 22,2023 - Youth Movie Day details TBA.

• Sunday, August 27, 2023 – Kick Off Sunday | Lake Day following Sunday School donuts and service.

Children and their families had a great time at Lake Day even though it that was cut short by some inclement weather... which they made up for with ice cream. JD didn’t take pictures he was busy trying to be a sailor.

• Wednesday, August 23, 2023 we will have our children’s parent meeting at the church. More details TBA.

• Saturday, August 26, 2023 - Children will have a day at the zoo. We will meet the morning of August 26, 2023 at the church and travel from there. Parents/caretakers are asked to join. More details TBA.

Families and Children Lake Day

Thanks to Beth and Mark Mintich for the use of their house and pontoon. We had a nice, quick outing on Lake Wylie. Milli and Yeison Perez got to have their first inner tube ride - ever - and then a huge rainstorm ended our outing! But we got back to the house and had ice cream. What could be better!? - Russ

For our next Fun Food Friday outing we’re going to Papa Doc's Shore Club in Lake Wylie, SC on August 25. Papa Doc's is a self described Rustic American seafood restaurant.

Please signup in Helt Hall or by emailing [email protected]. For those who would like to carpool, we will meet in the church parking lot at 11a and ride the bus, or you can meet at us at the restaurant, 3990 Charlotte Hwy, Lake Wylie, SC 29710, at 11:30a.

We had a great time of Pickleball for Men's Work. Matt Kinney, our organizer, was quoted as saying things like, "That serve was a real dill-light!" and encouraging other players with "Pickleball can get ‘rally’ tedious sometimes."

The August monthly mission offering will go to ELI (East Lake Initiative). Founded as a community development organization in 2010, ELI began as an outreach into the East Lake neighborhood in Birmingham, AL, to offer connection, safety, and resources. The members of the organization have since expanded their reach to the greater Birmingham community to offer wraparound services to families in the areas of housing, economic development, health and nutrition, and education.

The participants in the Youth Mission Trip 2023 spent one day working with ELI in their community garden and their food pantry.

We list an individual each week that we call our “Friends at Home” with their contact information.

Drop a card or give a call to check-in. Even if you do not know someone personally, a contact from someone from their church is always an encouragement.
