The first three days of school are staggered start days.  The school will reach out to inform you of your student’s day to attend. The date your child attends will be shared after the teachers return to school the week of August 21.

PK, Kindergarten, & new to NC public schools - Parents/guardians must submit a completed NC Health Assessment Transmittal Form for each child who presents for admission into Pre-K, Kindergarten, and all other grades when entering a NC public school for the first time unless there is a written religious exemption on file. The Health Assessment must be less than 12 months old at the time of program entry. (General Statute 130A-440; 10A NCAC09.300)

For those who have already ordered school supplies through Sprout, the supplies will be delivered directly to your student’s classroom.  The deadline to order from Sprout is now closed.  If you still need to purchase school supplies, see the link below for the 2023-2024 School Supply List.

We are excited to let you know that this year we will be using ParentSquare to communicate with you! We will no longer be utilizing the Remind App.   

With ParentSquare, you’ll be able to:  

• Receive school and classroom communication via email, text, or app 
• View the school and classroom calendars 
• Easily sign up to participate in school events 
• Securely receive report cards, IEPs, and other important student documents 

To take advantage of all ParentSquare’s features, please register your account. You’ll be receiving an email soon with those instructions. It takes less than one minute! We also have our very own CMS ParentSquare app. You can install this app on your iPhone or Android device for quick and easy access to all school-related communication. If you’d like to learn more about ParentSquare, you are also welcome to take ParentSquare’s short training courses for families, offered in English and Spanish, located here.

SPARK aims to develop a lifelong love of reading and math while raising money to fund the 2023-2024 PTA Operating Budget. The PTA operating budget helps fund family events like Dragonfest, Teacher Appreciation, Teacher Start up funds in the Fall, and InReach. 

Continue logging all hours spent reading or practicing math skills this summer. Every student who participates will be eligible for awesome prizes at the SPARK assembly in the fall. The more hours you log, the more chances you have to win including special prizes for students who log at least 100 hours! Use the SPARK Bubble Tracker Sheet or log hours online using Beanstack for current DES students. Regardless of tracking method, total hours will be submitted via a Google Form in September. More information about SPARK can be found here.
