In collaboration with our network of outstanding partners, Tech Goes Home is working to advance digital equity in Massachusetts. We continue to grow programs in Essex County. Now, we're exploring expansion into additional Gateway Cities across the state, and we're raising our voice in the advocacy space to encourage our elected officials to take action on digital inclusion. Earlier this month, the City Council voted to direct $2 million in ARPA funds to TGH to support expanded digital equity efforts across the city.

This funding is the result of TGH's concerted advocacy for increased public attention and resources towards digital equity. On May 3rd, TGH's Chief Advocacy Officer, Marvin Venay, offered testimony to Boston's City Council highlighting the importance of supporting digital inclusion initiatives with American Rescue Plan Act grants. With deep gratitude, we thank City Councilor Kenzie Bok, who championed this funding, and City Council President Ed Flynn and Councilor Julia Mejia, for their steadfast commitment to digital equity.

Marvin also testified at the Boston City Council’s June 3rd Committee on Boston's COVID-19 Recovery Hearing and May 26th Committee on Ways & Means Hearing.

Villa de la Alegría is a healthcare center for older adults based in West Roxbury. They have been a Tech Goes Home partner since 2020 and offer their TGH courses in Spanish, taught by instructor Nerilys Cruz. In addition to the TGH program, la Villa de la Alegría offers a wide array of services, from skilled nursing and social services to Zumba classes and music groups.

In June, MassINC and Massachusetts Competitive Partnership published a statewide digital equity action plan that highlights Tech Goes Home as a leader in digital inclusion.

Tech Goes Home is excited to welcome two new members to our team. With our growing capacity, we're looking forward to strengthening our programs and continuing our expansion into additional partner communities across the Commonwealth.

Ellen Gallagher (she/her) joined Tech Goes Home in May as Chief Program Officer.

Dahlia Bousaid Cox (she/her) joined Tech Goes Home in June as Senior Director of Development.

Tech Goes Home Chief Advocacy Officer Marvin Venay served on a panel of judges for UMass Lowell Innovation Hub's Digital Equity Pitch Competition in April. The first place prize was awarded to our friends at MakeIT Haverhill. Read more about the competition here.
