Dear Friends, Family Members and Supporters:
 |
|
 |
President Joseph P. Heidt introduced new principal Brian C. Dinkins to the faculty and staff in late May.
|
As we wind up another school year and begin planning for the 2016-17 academic year, it gives me great satisfaction to look back on all of our accomplishments:
> The Theater at Marian University was standing room only, as our families came together to celebrate the graduation of our 40 seniors - all accepted to college. See more graduation photos on our website.
> Through the diligent efforts of our search committee we have hired a new principal, Brian C. Dinkins. Read more about Brian below.
> As our school continues to grow, we are blessed to have a majority of our faculty members continuing in their service to the mission of Providence Cristo Rey. We welcome new faculty members from the Notre Dame ACE and ECHO graduate programs, in addition to seasoned veterans joining our team of educators. You can learn more about our faculty and staff on our website.
> We celebrated our first alumni reunion with many of our graduates, who are attending or recently graduated from an array of universities across Indiana. Among them were former students who completed their Corporate Work Study experiences with partners such as Eli Lilly, Shiel Sexton, August Mack Environmental, and BKD and are pursuing careers in science, construction management, and teaching.
> Providence Cristo Rey High School enjoyed its most successful fundraiser in our history, grossing an estimated $800,000. I'd like to offer a sincere thank you to our event underwriter, Dauby, O'Connor & Zaleski, along with all the loyal patrons who made the investment to further our mission of providing a college-preparatory education to a segment of our community too often left behind.
It is truly a privilege to serve students of great promise though of very limited financial means. I am very grateful to those who continue to support our mission. Thank you for helping our students pursue their college and career dreams.
Sincerely,
Joseph P. Heidt, President
Thank you to Marian University for hosting our prom and graduation and Congratulations to the Class of 2016!

Meet our New Principal
Brian C. Dinkins comes to Providence Cristo Rey from Arlington High School where he served as the Academic Dean. Brian brings to our school a wealth of experience through his prior work as a principal for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, IPS John Marshall High School, Imagine Life Sciences Academy Charter School, and as an Assistant Principal of Washington Township's Northview Middle School. He also positively impacted many students as a special education teacher at Arlington High School and Warren Township's Stonybrook Middle School. Brian's professional development includes Program Developer and Implementation Coordinator of Positive Behavior Intervention Support; Founder and President of the National Institute for Child Empowerment; Program Facilitator for the Center for Leadership Development; Co-Director and Founder of the "Man Up" program; Program facilitator of Franklin Covey; "Leader in Me" Program; Program Facilitator of the Capturing Kids' Hearts Program; and instructor of Teen Leadership Curriculum.
Brian's education has prepared him well to lead Providence Cristo Rey High School into an era of academic excellence. Our students are truly blessed to benefit from the knowledge he will impart. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Purdue University; a Masters in Teaching from Oakland City University; a Masters in Educational Administration from Butler University; a Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) School Superintendence Credential from Ball State University; and is scheduled to receive his Doctorate of Education in Educational Administration and Supervision in December 2016.
The Big Top was a Big Success
Our annual gala and scholarship auction was not only a fund-raising success, it was a wonderful opportunity for us to recognize some key supporters of Providence Cristo Rey. Honored for service and dedication were Jenny Matthews, Director of Events and coordinator for the gala; and L. David Lyons, Liaison for Institutional Giving, who are retiring from Providence Cristo Rey High School. We are extremely grateful for the leadership and generosity of Sean O'Connor, Dauby O'Connor & Zaleski, who served as our Chairman of the Board of Directors for the past two years. He also served on our Executive Board for numerous years and just concluded his ninth and final year of service on the Board of Directors.
Also recognized were Jonathan Wells, a graduate of the Class of 2011 who worked at Corporate Work Study Partner Shiel Sexton while attending Providence Cristo Rey, completed his degree from Indiana State University and is living in Texas working in construction management; and Montanaea Daniels, a graduate of the Class of 2011 who worked for Corporate Work Study Partner Eli Lilly while she was a student at Providence Cristo Rey and now works as a contract employee for Eli Lilly. For more photos of the gala check out our
website.

More Great News
We installed the largest number of students into National Honor Society in the history of Providence Cristo Rey High School during our Awards Night and recognized more than 50 students for academic excellence. More than half of our students received "4s" or "5s" on their year-end Corporate Work Study evaluation indicating their supervisors felt that they exceeded on-the-job expectations.
Students Take Their Own "Spin" at 100th Running of Indy 500
After the Indy 500, it was all hands on deck to clean up the aftermath of trash and Providence Cristo Rey cheerleaders were part of the volunteer crew. The effort was a way for the squad to turn trash into treasure - raise money to attend cheer camp. Their efforts were featured in The
