ANNOUNCING OUR NEW
SPORTS PHYSICAL CLINIC
Kids are anxious to get back on the playing field.  Soccer, Football, Cross Country, Volleyball, you name it... they are ready to play!  Before the coach lets them on the field, they must have a current physical.  We can help you with that at Child & Teen Wellness Center!

We are pleased to announce the opening of our Sports Physical Clinic!  Parents can call us for a same day appointment or to schedule a future appointment.  No need for an urgent care facility. Our board certified pediatricians or certified pediatric nurse practitioners can give you a comprehensive exam, make any necessary referrals (if indicated) and complete all necessary forms.

The cost of the exam is only $35 and of that, we donate $5 directly to your school athletic department or community team.

AUGUST IS NATIONAL IMMUNIZATION AWARENESS MONTH

We all need shots (also called vaccinations or immunizations) to help protect us from serious diseases. To help keep our community safe,  Child & Teen Wellness Center is proudly participating in National Immunization Awareness Month.

Shots can prevent serious diseases like flu, measles, and pneumonia. It's important to know which shots you need and when to get them. Click on the links below to view the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations.
Talk to your doctor or nurse to make sure that everyone in your family gets the shots they need. 

 
FUN IN THE SUMMER SUN

Oh, these glorious days of summer- with b eautiful, warm, sunny days, visits to the beach or pool, family outings,... all of these things help to make summer fun!
Here are a few suggestions to make your summer a safe, happy & memorable time.
  • Apply & reapply sunscreen!!!  Always, always protect your skin! Use a broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF of 30 or higher.
  • Drink plenty of water, especially if you are exercising. Keeping hydrated is a must.
  • If the Heat Index is in the "danger" zone, stay in an air conditioned area if possible.
  • Remember to check for ticks if you've been in a grassy or wooded area.
  • Use insect repellent. The AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) recommends that repellents should contain no more than 30% DEET when used on children. Insect repellents also are not recommended for children younger than 2 months.
