Greetings!

Summer has arrived!

Looking forward to what the season has in store for us at Parenting Now, we are excited to announce that, beginning next month, Parenting Now will be Lane County’s Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) provider.

Working together with our partners at Lane County, United Way, and Oregon Research Institute, we will offer this programming to parents across Lane County, and in some neighboring counties, as well. Triple P is a valuable resource, as it equips parents and caregivers with the skills and confidence they need to face the challenges of parenthood while investing in positive relationships with their children.

At Parenting Now, we are proud of our long and rich history, serving children and families in our community. The organization was established in 1978 which means, this year, we are celebrating our 45th anniversary. As we are gearing up for a celebratory event in September, we are reminded of just how many people in this community have been touched by Parenting Now over the years. We look forward to sharing these stories with you on our social media. If you haven’t already, follow us on Facebook! We believe you will find the stories just as heart-warming as we do.

SHARE YOUR PARENTING NOW/BIRTH TO THREE STORY

As Parenting Now gears up to celebrate its 45th anniversary this fall, we are looking to gather stories from families who have participated in our programs. Whether you attended a parenting group 30 years ago or 3 weeks ago, we want to hear from you!

Share a story, special moment, or a valuable lesson or insight you gained.

WHAT'S HAPPENING THIS SUMMER AT PARENTING NOW

Incredible INFANTs Parenting Group

Starts July 7, and meets every other week for 10 sessions with a Parenting Educator to discuss: Birth experiences; Responding to your unique baby; Nurturing yourself and your family; Family routines, and more. LEARN MORE

LGBTQ+ Parent Group

June 26 • July 10 • July 24 • August 7

Gather with other LGBTQ+ parents to share experiences, get support, and have fun. Offered on Mondays from 5 pm to 6 pm at Parenting

Baby Connection is offered every Wednesday from 11 am to 12 pm at the Parenting Now building (86 Centennial Loop in Eugene). Free to attend! Baby Connection will continue to offer its virtual option over Zoom, expanding its reach to all families throughout Oregon and beyond. So whether you live in Oregon or Oklahoma, families with children under 1 year of age can receive lactation or feeding support and connect with other families. Please email enroll@parentingnow.org or call 541-434-4343 to register for the virtual option.

Teaching Gentle Behavior

Toddlers, by nature, are sweet and kind, but they don’t always have the words or skills to work through their big feelings and emotions. They have not yet learned to regulate their feelings, so big feelings may take over their behavior. Learn more about how you can support your child's emotional regulation. Read more

SQUISHTIVITIES CRAFT:

Bubbles

Every child loves bubbles: How they’re made, how they float, and how they POP fascinates them! Now you and your child can make this childhood classic at home and enjoy them year round.

You Will Need:

• 1 cup dish soap

• 3 cups water

• 1/3 cups light corn syrup

• Shallow container for the bubbles

Mix all ingredients together and enjoy!

Summer Reading at Eugene Public Library

Eugene Public Library's Summer Reading program offers a full calendar of free fun for everyone! Visit the Downtown Library, Bethel Branch, or Sheldon Branch to get your all-ages Book Bingo cards. Plus kids and teens can each choose a free brand-new book to keep.

No library card is needed to participate. But to get the most out of your library, sign up to get one. Library cards are free for all 4J and Bethel students and for all children ages 0-5 who live in the 4J and Bethel districts.
