We are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of several Foundation Learning Center students who were selected as recipients of the Maryland Association of Nonpublic Special Education Facilities (MANSEF) Michael Cardin Scholarship. This prestigious scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated exceptional perseverance, personal growth, and a strong commitment to achieving their academic, personal, and transition goals.

Through the scholarship, each student will have the opportunity to participate in a summer program that reflects their unique interests and aspirations, providing enriching experiences that will support their continued learning and personal development.

A Foundation Learning Center First

This year, we proudly published our first school yearbook. Filled with photos, memories, and highlights from throughout the year, we hope it becomes a treasured keepsake for our students and families, a lasting reminder of the friendships, accomplishments, laughter, and unforgettable experiences we shared. We are thrilled to begin this new tradition and look forward to creating many more yearbooks in the years ahead. The Foundation Learning Center proudly celebrated the achievements of our students during this year's Promotion Ceremonies and 8th Grade Graduation, recognizing their hard work, perseverance, and academic growth throughout the year. Families and guests enjoyed student presentations that showcased the learning, confidence, and growth achieved throughout the school year. Each student was also presented with a certificate in recognition of their dedication and accomplishments, making the occasion a proud and memorable milestone. 

Our skating trip was a fantastic way for students to celebrate the end of another successful school year. Whether they were confidently skating around the rink or cheering on their classmates from the sidelines, everyone had a great time. Beyond the fun, the outing provided valuable opportunities for students to build confidence, strengthen social skills, encourage one another, and celebrate their accomplishments together. It was wonderful to see students supporting their peers, trying something new, and creating lasting memories as a school community.

The Foundation Learning Center team attended the 2026 Maryland Association of Nonpublic Special Education Facilities (MANSEF) conference, where educators, administrators, and related service providers from across Maryland came together to learn, collaborate, and share best practices in special education. The sessions provided valuable strategies, fresh ideas, and meaningful opportunities to connect with colleagues who share a commitment to helping every student thrive.

By bringing back new knowledge and best practices, our staff continues to strengthen the exceptional educational experiences we provide for our students and families. A sincere thank you to MANSEF for hosting such an informative and inspiring conference.

This year, several of our students participated in a cooking course at Prince George's Community College. Through this hands-on learning experience, students explored the fundamentals of cooking while developing valuable life and career skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom. Throughout the course, students learned kitchen safety, proper food handling and sanitation, basic knife skills, meal preparation techniques, and how to prepare healthy, nutritious meals.

Career Week was an inspiring experience for our students to explore a variety of opportunities for life after high school. One of the highlights of the week was welcoming parents, family members, and community professionals who generously shared their career journeys, educational experiences, and workplace insights, as well as interactive stations where students could put their skills to the test. Their presentations gave students a firsthand look at the many paths to success and encouraged them to dream big.

Students also participated in college and post-secondary information sessions, learning about higher education options, transition programs, and the steps they can take to achieve their personal and career goals. A heartfelt thank you to our families, community partners, and dedicated volunteers for sharing their time, talents, and experiences. Your support helped make Career Week a success!
