A Message From The CEO
By Rachel Michelin

Help California Women Lead continue the momentum of women serving in Appointed Office!

As campaign season gets into high gear there is a lot of emphasis on women. In California, we have three women running for statewide office, VERY competitive races for congressional seats and a number of women running in down ticket races. 2018 has the potential to be a BIG year for women in California politics. That is why the work California Women Lead does to inspire, train and support women who are seeking appointed office is so important. It is also why in September, California Women Lead will resurrect our successful California Women's State Appointments Project, which we launched in 2010. The focus of this project is to inspire, train and submit names and resumes to the new governor when he takes office of potential women to appoint. Our hope is the new governor will continue the great work of the Brown Administration in maintaining the goal that 50 percent of state appointees are women. This milestone was reached in 2015 and represents the highest percentage of women serving in appointed office in our state's history.

Here we go! Save the dates - April 22 - 24, 2019 for California Women Lead's Women's Conference. We are headed back to the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim with new, exciting surprises in store!

We looked at all of the evaluations and incorporated the great suggestions we received! New this year is our Welcome Reception on April 22nd. We are incorporating a special networking surprise to help you meet other women leaders from throughout the state and the Western Region.

You won't want to miss the Conference Reception as we honor women in public service - elected, appointed, military and public safety. And we will close the reception with a fun party to celebrate all the ways women LEAD! Plus, for those of you who attended last year - you know we will have lots of fun surprises throughout the entire conference!

Visit our website to see our teaser agenda and check back often as we begin releasing names of our speakers. Registration will open soon along with opportunities to purchase tables or sponsor the conference.

Feel free to email us at  [email protected] if you have any questions! See you next year in Anaheim!
