Middle School Awards

Each year, we like to recognize Middle School Students who have contributed to Peabody School in a unique way. There are four categories of awards for students in leadership, citizenship, scholarship, and for being a penguin! We also recognize students for academic excellence and outstanding effort in the core subjects. Students are nominated for these awards by the middle school academic faculty and the middle school core teaching team reviews the nominees and then selects the recipients. These decisions are always difficult as all the students contribute so much to Peabody.

Summer Hours

Generally, someone will be in the office for the duration of the summer with the exception of the week of July 5-9th when we will be CLOSED. Our business hours in the summer are 9 AM-3 PM. During the summer, if you need to stop by the school, it is always a good idea to call ahead to make sure someone will be in the office. You will receive two additional newsletters, one each in July and August, that will contain important information about next year.

Peabody Panthers Basketball Academy

Skills a little rusty after quarantine? Missed hooping with all of your friends? Coach Waki and 2018 Peabody School alumni Logan Strzepek and Len Colley are bringing the Peabody community an opportunity to play basketball again at our Peabody Panthers Basketball Academy. During our time together we will hone some important skills, create a realistic game experience, and most importantly, have lots of fun! The camp will be from June 11th to June 13th from 10 A.M to 3 P.M. Players will have to bring their own lunches and drinks, and the camp will be for all 4th through 8th-graders. Also, the camp is free this year so don’t be afraid to sign up! We hope to see you there!

Bio-Med Tech Girls

Bio-Med Tech-Girls is back for its 8th year, August 9-13! The program is a collaboration between the UVA Department of Biomedical Engineering and Charlottesville Women in Tech. Last summer, we took Bio-Med Tech-Girls online and were able to have participants from around the country. This year, they are both looking for feedback on the format as well as determining if we can do in-person activities. Wherever it happens, the week of August 9-13 will be filled with guest speakers, hands-on activities, and a design challenge focused on telemedicine. Applications are now open and the deadline to apply is June 25.

Who: 9th-12th grade; identify as female or nonbinary

When: August 9-13 (synchronous activities will happen between 10 AM and 4PM ET)

Where: Looking for input on in-person, online, or hybrid

Cost: FREE
