Showcasing Leaders of the NOAA Ocean Guardian Youth Ambassador Program

Swim on over to NOAA's National Marine Sanctuaries article that showcases the 2 teen founders of our newly-developed high school program, Night at the Aquarium!

Through this program, teens are invited to raise awareness of the importance of the ocean for all life, all while learning of the many concrete actions we can take to improve our ocean's health.

The St. Louis Aquarium Foundation is extremely proud of our teen ambassadors and all they are doing to spread their environmental knowledge, skills, and abilities in the St. Louis community - keep up the great work!

Donor Spotlight: Blueprint 4

The St. Louis Aquarium Foundation would like to thank Blueprint 4 for their support of our Camp Fins & Friends summer camp. With their help, we have been able to award many different scholarships to campers for a fully-funded camp session!

Campers have been exploring the Aquarium behind-the-scenes, engaging in animal encounters, enjoying the Union Station attractions and everything in-between! We are extremely grateful for Blueprint 4's aid in providing access for campers to experience this fun-filled week of STEM-education and activities, giving them the opportunity to be inspired and gain knowledge on the environment and how we are all connected.

Having a JAW-some Time at Swing Fore the Seas!

On Thursday, May 1st, the St. Louis Aquarium Foundation Young Professionals Board hosted their second annual fundraiser, Swing Fore the Seas at Topgolf Midtown St. Louis! Thank you to all of our sponsors, guests, and in-kind donors who made the event a great success. Through your generosity, we raised almost $40,000 to benefit our education and conservation programs!

Our sponsors had an afternoon of good fun and good food, all while raising funds for the mission of the St. Louis Aquarium Foundation. Guests enjoyed competitive play along with other fun activities like our longest drive contest, silent auction, 50/50 raffle, and a chance to putt at the wine pull!

A special thank you to our amazing Young Professionals Board who did a fantastic job organizing, seeking sponsorships and auction items, and giving their creative insights throughout the whole process. The St. Louis Aquarium Foundation is extremely proud to have such an amazing group of emerging leaders and we thank you for being wonderful ambassadors in the St. Louis community.

Purina Cares Day on the Mississippi River

The Aquarium Foundation was thrilled to partner with Purina on their annual Purina Cares Day as their employee volunteers helped us to prevent plastic pollution from entering the Mighty Mississippi!

Down at Mural Mile, volunteers came across a box turtle that had an injury to its shell. It was taken to the Wildlife Rescue Center to be examined and treated for a full recovery! Up at North Riverfront Park, volunteers did a lot of heavy lifting as we collected 10 tires, a headboard, a traffic barricade, and more!

In the end, around 62 Purina volunteers collected 40 bags of trash between both Mural Mile and North Riverfront Park - that amounts to approximately 750 pounds of trash!

Thank you to all of the volunteers for continuing to serve the St. Louis community and keep our waterways clean. Every bag collected allows us to have a greater, positive impact in our community as we continue in our commitment to water stewardship!

The St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station Made the List of Top 5 Aquariums in the Country!

The St. Louis Aquarium was recently nominated as one of the 20 aquariums throughout the country for their high-quality and unique visitor exhibits by a panel of experts. This was a major accomplishment and the St. Louis Aquarium was voted as the #4 Best Aquarium in the USA Today poll!

The St. Louis Aquarium Foundation would like to give a big round of applause to the St. Louis Aquarium for this monumental stride in showing the amazing work being done and the wonders we have to offer! What an amazing accomplishment to be nominated and to make the top 5 in their very first year of participating in the poll!

Recycling Tip of the Day

Did you know that plastic bags and wraps cannot be recycled in your home recycling bin because they require different processing equipment? When thrown in your home recycling bin, these plastics jam the recycling machinery and are one of the top contaminants of the single-stream recycling process.

To recycle your plastic bags, you can return them to your local grocery or retail store so that they will then be disposed of properly. Or better yet, you can bring your own reusable shopping bags to reduce the number of plastic bags used!
