HELP US SPREAD THE WORD!!

If you are a clergy member or youthworker who knows a rising 10th, 11th, or 12th grader who would be right for this program, now is a good time to talk about this application with them. This flyer provides a good overview of the application process and calendar of the year-long commitment.

The Diocesan Youth Council is a group of young people who represent the youth of the Diocese at Diocesan Convention. They plan and run Diocesan youth events and work to make the church a nurturing environment for the spiritual growth of young people in our Christian community. They seek to accomplish this through extending fellowship and hospitality with their fellow youth.
Applications due August 23, 2019.

EYE20

Episcopal Youth Event 2020

July 7-11, 2020

Washington, DC
Every three years, The Episcopal Church young people from across the denomination come together for an international gathering of worship, workshops, exploration, and fun. The 2020 Episcopal Youth Event (EYE20) will be held in partnership with the Washington National Cathedral and the Episcopal Diocese of Washington on the campus of Howard University July 7-11, 2020. Young people attend as part of the diocesan delegation. Look for more information on registration this fall. And if you want to be sure you don’t miss out, contact our Youth Missioner H. Mark Smith and he will be sure you are “on the list.”

For each EYE, event organizers recruit a group of young adults to serve as the event's Pastoral Care Team. The application for young adults interested in serving on the Pastoral Care Team will be available in June

EYE20 is being organized by a Planning Team of young people from across the church, with one chosen per province. The Province 1 representative is Jackson Humphreys from Church of Our Saviour, Milton.  Jackson lives in Milton and attends Thayer Academy in Braintree. He is on the vestry at Our Saviour as the youth representative, is an Eagle Scout, and will serve as the Vice Chair of the High School Democrats of America next year.
Jackson says, "I'm deeply honored to represent Province I and the Diocese of Massachusetts at the 2020 Episcopal Youth Event. Now more than ever, it is important to be constantly bringing new people into the church. I'm looking forward to have the opportunity to engage with Episcopal youth from around the world to make this event a success!"
Resources for Youth Ministry
Looking Ahead
to 2019-2020
Plans are underway for diocesan youth ministry events for the coming year . We are always looking for new partners with new ideas and energy!
  • Would you like to invite the Diocesan Youth Missioner and/or members of the Diocesan Youth Council to your parish for a Sunday visitation to highlight the ministry of young people in your parish and the diocese?
  • Does your parish, cluster, deanery, or network have an idea for an event that you would like to offer to the diocese in partnership with the Office of Youth Ministry?
  • Do you have a request for training and/or ongoing support of youth workers? of parents?
  • Would you and your young people like to help design and support online opportunities for community? for prayer support? for worship? Want to help us launch a weekly online Compline service led by teens?

Let's plan next year's calendar together. Now is the time to have conversation. Contact  the Rev. H. Mark Smith, Diocesan Youth Missioner  .
