We hope you will have time to reflect on your personal professional development needs and join us for one of our PD offerings over the summer and fall. Our PD opportunities can help you grow your own practice and create learning experiences that put your students in the driver's seat to propel their own learning! 

OCPLSF-RBC Our Canada Project Award 


The LSF-RBC Our Canada Project Award is given annually to the top 3 projects posted on www.OurCanadaProject.ca to recognize outstanding student leadership and contributions to Canada's sustainable future. This year, the following 3 projects stood out:
  • 1st place, $3,000: Okanagan Mission Secondary School in Kelowna, BC for Mission Roots Cafe
  • 2nd place, $2,000: Miles MacDonell Collegiate in Winnipeg, MB for Beeswax Food Wrap & Earth Day Celebration
  • 3rd place, $1,000: Guelph Collegiate-Vocational Institute in Guelph, ON for Raised Garden Beds
Thank you to RBC for their generous s upport of Our Canada Project and for making these awards possible, and congratulations to the students - you are inspiring changemakers all over the country with your hard work and dedication to making Canada a more sustainable place!


JLAJack Layton Award for Youth Action in Sustainability 2018 Winners


The 2018 Learning for a Sustainable Future  Jack Layton Award for Youth Action in Sustainability is a special celebration of what makes Canada great: future generations of young people working together to make our country a better, more sustainable place.

This year, we have chosen 1 winner, 2 runners-up, and 4 Honourable Mentions out of 60 eligible schools: 

Winner - $500
  • Kortright Hill Public School from Guelph, ON
Runners-Up - $250 each
  • Morinville Public School from Morinville, AB
  • Raft River Elementary School from Clearwater, BC
Honourable Mentions
  • Ecole Elmlea Junior School from Etobicoke, ON 
  • Espanola High School from Espanola, ON
  • Ridgecliff Middle School from Beechville, NS
  • Voice Integrative School from Toronto, ON

On Thursday, June 14, 2018 Learning for a Sustainable Future (LSF), with support from 3M Canada, hosted this year's Gala which focused on the scope and complexity of climate change and how the energy, creativity and power of youth can help us take on this challenge. Thank you to our sponsor, 3M Canada, and our generous supporters, BMO Financial Group, RBC, Glencore, Bullfrog Power, Compass Group and Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario for making this event possible!
