Bountiful Bites
June Newsletter

Busy Bees in June!
Summer is nearly here and hands are needed

Birdsong, school groups, and weed whackers create the spring symphony of noises and activity on the Bounty Farm.  Though the wet weather caused some delays (remember when?), it will not keep the farm from being the bustling center of community food security for Petaluma.  See below for produce outlet launch dates!  If you are interested in volunteering, stop by the farm Wednesdays or Saturdays from 9am to 12pm or Thursdays 3 to 6pm.

On other fronts, Bounty is promoting inclusiveness and celebrating diversity at farmers' markets through our Faces of the Market Campaign.  Staff also supported a series of workshops on Produce Safety Post Urban Wildfire, a needs assessment on food safety in the gleaning movement, and continued advocacy work in aligning efforts in strengthening the local food system during a natural disaster and while addressing chronic food insecurity.  Concurrently, we promoted farmers' markets during CalFresh Awareness Month (May) through wellness fairs, increasing the daily incentive limit of CalFresh purchases at participating farmers' markets [insert updated link], and a social media campaign.

By listening to stakeholders from various aspects of the food system, Bounty identifies and collaboratively develops solutions to emerging issues affecting our food system. For more on our approach, please click here.
