Guess who's baaaaack!!! It's summer programming!

This year's national Collaborative Summer Learning theme is "Unearth a Story"! We're using that, plus the America 250th anniversary (1776 - 2016), as the inspiration for most of the programming.

We've got a Kpop Demon Hunters + Kpop bands event in June, as this year's program that is inspired by "what's trending" (last year was Bluey).

NOTE: limited craft quantities of 50-150 prepped per unique craft item (more for Kpop Party day).

Schools, OOST, YMCA, & daycare kids limited to ONE unique craft item per child (their choice); then go play on main floor.

General public: you might not get to make everything, but you should be able to make at least one thing.

ReadSquared - go ahead and register now for the summer reading race for kids! Reading Race for PreK - 12th grades is active May 23 thru August 1.

To make it easier to keep track of reading logs, immediate tallying of points for attending an event, the current leader board, and seeing an image of what prizes you've earned (including redeeming your reading tickets throughout the summer), we are joining ReadSquared this year!

This is provided through the Library of NC.

Events subject to change due to weather, staffing, guest speaker availability, and supply issues.

May 2026

3rd annual MESStival as our summer opener!

We'll have all sorts of messy activities out in the back parking lot: balloons filled with paint to toss at old sheets, kiddie pool with fake snow, color mixing bags, volcano in a tub, paint with food coloring, ice cubes, dino dig eggs, salt dough dino bones, and asteroid “rocks” that react when tossed into vinegar!

Vice Cream truck will be there for treats on May 27.

Rain date is May 28, but the ice cream truck cannot make the rain date.
