We'll discuss how to sustain, market and grow this program in Southbridge and beyond.

Krosslink.org is a volunteer-driven community program created to help develop, nurture, and foster entrepreneurship by connecting aspiring entrepreneurs to local business leaders, mentors and civic leaders who can help them achieve their goals. The result is a vibrant eco-system where individuals looking to build a business can find resources and activities to kick start their plans and find mentoring by SCORE business experts.

Reception Monday, June 6
at 6:30 pm
The Artful Friends Raffle is back! Items being raffled off range from donated art - paintings, photos, collage, sculpture, pottery, jewelry, cards, fabric art and other handmade items - to gift certificates from local restaurants and businesses. Buy a $5 raffle card with 25 chances to win, and spread your chances out over as many or as few items as you like!
Winners will be drawn on Thursday, June 30th following the Pride in Southbridge event. Winners do not need to be present at the drawing to win, but we hope to see you there!
The opening reception will feature music with Rita Schiano and Rob Adams. All are welcome, and light refreshments will be served. Raffle tickets will be available for sale at the reception, and throughout the the month at the Information Desk.

In this workshop, Money Management International (MMI) will teach you how to evaluate where you are financially, then guide you through creation of a system to get you where you want to be. MMI offers worksheets and expert advice to help you organize your financial management system.

* prepare for financial emergencies, and

Art instructor Gregory Maichack will teach participants how to pastel paint like the masters, and everyone will take home their finished piece of art. Essential techniques of pastel painting will be clearly demonstrated. Greg will provide hundreds of professional grade pastels, paper, & pencils. All skill levels, from sheer beginners to advanced welcome!

Pride in Southbridge

Our Annual Pride in Southbridge event will be held on Thursday, June 30 at 6:30 pm.
We are delighted to welcome back Sarah Jo Burke to present her original and cover versions of acoustic, folk, blues, jazz and traditional Irish music on a variety of instruments.
Sarah's stage experience dates back to childhood in the '60s when she was a member of the internationally acclaimed Burke Family Singers. For 12 years she sang, toured and recorded with the group, appeared on television in more than a dozen specials and on variety shows such as the Jack Paar, Mike Douglas and Ed Sullivan shows.
Sponsored by the Friends of JEL, the Pride in Southbridge event is celebrating its 11th year and we are looking forward to an evening of the community coming together to celebrate inclusion. Light refreshments will be served, all are welcome!
Immediately following the performance, the Friends of the Library will draw the winners of the Artful Friends Raffle.

Teen Friday Movie - Friday Night Lights
Friday, June 24 at 2:00 pm
Odessa, TX is home to the Permian High School Panthers, the football team with the best winning record in the state. Odessa is a town with more than its share of problems. But football is the one thing that brings all the people of Odessa together, and on Friday nights every fall, as many as 20,000 people fill Permian's football stadium to watch Coach Gary Gaines and his boys try to lead the team to victory.
Running time: 118 minutes, rated PG-13.

Jay Mankita is an American songwriter, guitarist, recording artist, and dad. He's based in the Northeast, but travels all over. Jay writes and performs songs for kids about animals, ecology, and healthy food in schools, libraries, fairs and festivals.
This program is supported by a grant from the Southbridge Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Therapy Dogs with
Carol, Maxwell & Shelby

The Jacob Edwards Library is pleased to present author Carol Majewski who has written Room for One More: A Dog's Story about Helping People. This is an endearing book about her dog Maxwell, who will be on hand to for a few tricks. Shelby will also accompany the author and her husband. The story is told
from a dog's point-of-view. It illustrates how an energetic puppy emerges into a loving and effective therapy dog.
Carol Majewski lives in Southeastern CT with her husband and two dogs. As a former teacher, she now combines two activities she loves; interacting with children and dogs at the same time. Books will be available for purchase for $10 each. Ms. Majewski will be happy to sign books at the end of the program.

Stargaze with our Telescope!
The library now has a telescope which can be checked out and taken home - just like a book. Use it to spend a night stargazing in your own back yard! Who knows what you will see?
Instructions and tips on what to look for are included. Must be checked out by an adult 18 or older.
