Summer Reading
@ Your Library

“The possibilities were endless. Battles would be fought. Wonders revealed. Many journeys. Many lands. Many joys. Many sorrows. But stories all...”
― William Joyce
This year's summer reading theme invites us to imagine. With the pandemic, social distancing, and building closures, Tiverton Public Library staff have used our imaginations -- big time -- to create summer library experiences that will inspire you to imagine your own story, choose your own adventure, and create a memorable summer.

Whether you're trying to keep the kids entertained and avoid summer slide, find ways to stay connected to friends over the summer and complete teen volunteer hours, or share great books and experiences, we have digital programs, take-home activities, and more ways to access our collections and connect with staff all summer long...all while earning chances to win some great prizes. Scroll down to learn about each program and start participating today!

Who Is Eligible: Anyone 18 and older is eligible to participate in the adult summer library experience.

How to Participate: Submit a review of any library materials, museum or zoo passes (as they become available), events, and activities for chances to win great prizes! All library events are eligible for entry in the adult program -- adult programs, teen programs (if you are 18)...even completing a take-home summer reading activity with your child or grandchild!

Click the button below to submit your first review. Limit one (1) activity per person per entry form, but you may submit as many reviews as you like. The more you enter, the more chances to win!
Printed review forms are also available at the library. All entry forms must be submitted by August 15th.

Each Weekly Prize consists of a $10 gift certificate to a local Tiverton establishment. Weekly prizes will be drawn on Mondays. Winning a weekly prize does not remove your entry from the Grand Prize drawing.

Upcoming Events
Each summer, the Tiverton Public Library offers a Teen Summer Experience for students who are entering Grade 6 (or students who are not yet in 6th grade but are at least 12 years old) through Grade 12. Participation in our program allows students to explore, participate in shared experiences, and submit their participation for prizes. This year’s theme is Choose Your Own Adventure!

This year, instead of tickets, we are offering 4 Choose Your Own Adventure worksheets: Reading, Listening, Experiencing, and Digital. Click the button below to access these challenge worksheets.
Challenge worksheets can also be placed with holds when they are picked up. Paper copies will also be made available at the library when patrons can be safely welcomed back inside the building.

Students can submit their worksheets in the following ways:
  1. Drop them in the book return with your returned items.
  2. Submit them in the Teen Room, when the Library building reopens.
  3. Submit photos of your completed worksheet by emailing them to or DMing a picture of the completed worksheet to @tivertonteenroom on Instagram.

Students must complete all 3 levels of each challenge for the challenge to be complete. Only completed challenges will be considered valid entries when the grand prize raffles are drawn at the end of the Teen Summer Experience Challenge in August. Completion of the Choose Your Own Adventure worksheets is the ONLY way for students to earn raffle tickets this year.

Up for raffle are gift cards to the following businesses: Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Game Stop, and iTunes.
Special Programs
Due to social distancing, Teen special events and programs will not be the same as in years past. This year, all programming will be done virtually, but we are excited to offer students opportunities to connect with other students and engage in the library community.

This year, instead of earning a raffle ticket for attending library programs and events, students will earn volunteer hours: 1 hour will be awarded for every virtual program attended, and 2 hours will be awarded for every Teen Advisory Board meeting attended. Unfortunately, due to social distancing regulations, this is the only way that we are able to offer volunteer hours this summer.

Grab & Go Crafts: Available for pick-up on the following Mondays: June 22, June 29, July 13, July 20, July 27, and August 3. While supplies last, Grab & Go craft kits will be available to students. Each kit will contain instructions and all (or some) of the materials needed to complete the craft at home. Students can submit photos of their completed craft to @tivertonteenroom on Instagram or email them to for an extra raffle entry.

Young Adult for Adults Book Club: This group will be meeting July 14 and August 11 at 6:00pm via Zoom. This is a traditional-style book club that meets monthly. Students must at least be in high school in order to attend. Book titles are yet-to-be-determined and can be ordered to be picked up at the Tiverton Public Library. Links to the Zoom meeting room will be in our Library’s event calendar.

Video Game Strategy Hour: This is a drop-in video game strategy question-and-answer session that will happen on June 16, July 7, and August 4 from 3:00 to 4:00pm via the Tiverton Library’s Discord server. Drop in with your questions about anything and everything video games and have them answered by Kyle, our Technology Librarian and resident Video Game Guru. The link to the Library’s Discord server will be in the Library’s event calendar.

Anime & Manga Meet-Up: Meet up with us to discuss Anime & Manga on June 23 and July 28 from 3:00 to 4:00pm via Google Meetings. The link for the Google Meeting will be in the Library’s event calendar.

Teen Advisory Board: Join Rebecca for a hangout on Google Meetings to talk about how you can help the library plan fun and exciting things! Meetings will be held every Wednesday from June 17 through August 12 from 2:00 to 3:00pm. Join us for this 1-hour meeting and earn 2 hours of community service credit! The link for the Google Meeting will be in the Library’s event calendar.

Bring Your Own Book Club: Join us every Thursday from June 25 through August 13 at 11:30am on Google Meetings to talk books. Come join Rebecca and other teens to talk about whatever you are reading, what you have recently read, or to talk about a book that everyone needs to know about. Stuck in a reading rut? Come to BYOBC and get personal book recommendations from Rebecca! The link to the Google Meeting will be in the Library’s event calendar.

End of the Week Check-In: Join Rebecca every Friday from June 19 through August 14 on Instagram Live at 11:30am. Each week will be different -- some planned, other’s unplanned. With the goal of allowing our Teen Community space to take a breath, ask questions, talk about new library items, and be. Since the Teen Room will be closed to visitors through the summer, this is a way for Rebecca to connect with everyone until school starts! Follow @tivertonteenroom on Instagram to participate.

Netflix Watch Party Movies: Join us to watch movies via the Netflix Watch Party Chrome Extension on June 26, July 10, July 24, and August 7 at noon. Students joining must have a Netflix account or sign up for the 7-day free Netflix trial to be able to access the Watch Party. Specific instructions on how to participate can be found on our Library’s event calendar.
A Note on Volunteer Hours
raised hands
Typically, the Tiverton Public Library offers a multitude of volunteer opportunities for students throughout the summer. With social distancing, the cancellation of in-person programming, and the limited number of people we are allowed to have in our library building at one time, we are unable to offer the same quality of experience and the quantity of opportunities that we have offered in past years.

This year, the ONLY way for students to earn volunteer hours is to attend digital programs. Students who attend our digital programs will earn 1 hour of volunteer credit for every program attended. Students who attend our digital Teen Advisory Board meetings will earn 2 hours of volunteer credit.

Also, many students plan to complete a large number of hours each year at Pardon Gray Day. It is currently uncertain whether Pardon Gray Day will happen this year, so please plan your volunteer hours accordingly.
