Warm days are here, and so is our summer reading program!  Registration for our adult, teen and children's summer reading programs begins on June 13 - don't miss our extensive schedule of events for all ages, and reading challenges at all levels.  Details are below.  Also note that children's storytimes are on hiatus until the start of summer reading, on June 13.

 

But first, start the summer at the Friends of the Library book sale from June 2-4 to collect novels for your beach and pool-side reading.  We're offering a timely program on Lyme disease on June 7, presented by Easton Hospital.  Details on these programs and more can be found below.

Friends of the Library Book Sale
The Friends of the Memorial Library of Nazareth and Vicinity's semi-annual book sale takes place  June 2nd to June 4th.  Thousands of books, DVDs, and CDs are available for all ages and reading interests.  
 
Hours are:  
Thursday, June 2nd 10:00 am - 7:30 pm; 
Friday, June 3rd 10:00 am - 4:30 pm; and, 
Saturday, June 4th 10:00 am - 3:30 pm. 
  
Children's books are just $1 per pound!  
Friday is Everything a Dollar Day and Saturday is $5.00 a Bag Day.

A preview for members of the Friends takes place before the Library officially opens on Thursday morning, June 2nd from 9 am - 10 am. Membership to the Friends can be purchased at the door. Only cash and checks will be accepted at the book sale.
 
Nazareth Book Group

The Nazareth Book Group will meet on Wednesday, June 8th, 6:30 pm, to discuss Remarkable Creatures by Tracy Chevalier.
 
July's selection is The Accidental Empress by Allison Pataki. 
 
Everyone is welcome to join for any or all discussions. Most discussions are held at the Memorial Library of Nazareth and Vicinity. Please call Amy at 484-767-8049 to confirm location or for more information.
Calendar Update for Weekly Children's Programming
Weekly Programming for Children resumes on June 13th

WeeBuild for preschoolers on Mondays, 10:30am to noon
MakerSpace for school age children on Fridays, 10:30am to noon
Toddler Shake and Boogie on Tuesdays, 10:30am

Baby and Me, and Read to Me Story Time (for toddlers and preschoolers) will resume during the week of June 13th.
  (Click here for story time schedule.) All of these programs are open to the public and do not require pre-registration.
 
"On Your Mark, Get Set... READ!" Summer Reading Program 
Kick-off celebration for On Your Mark, Get Set... READ  
Tuesday, June 14 at 5:00-7:00pm
 
Get a running start on Summer Reading with games, crafts, food & fun at our kick-off party! Test your strength and agility at a mini-boot camp, and visit Jolly Holly for your very own balloon animal.
 
Event is held rain or shine  
NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED for our kick-off party.
Lace up your shoes and RUN to the library for
SUMMER READING, running from June 13 to August 6.
 
This year, we have three reading programs for different age groups.  All are free when you present your library cards for registration.  Registration begins Monday June 13th and continues all summer!
For Children 
from preschool to finished grade 6

Read for fun and track the number of minutes you read this summer to earn rewards as you complete reading challenges. In addition, you can opt to join additional events such as Brunch Bunch book discussions, mini-boot camps with the Marines, art and craft programs, Read to the Pups, yoga and more!

For Teens
finished grades 7-12

Earn a raffle ticket for each library book you
read and you can choose which of the four
gift cards you want to enter to win!  Plus,
there are Literary Lunches held during July that you can opt to join.

For Adults
of all ages!

Receive a raffle ticket for each library book you read or audio book you listen to and enter to win various prizes.  In addition there are other adult activities you can opt to join such as book club discussions led by library staff, gentle yoga, and art with Jen Prichett .
