Summer Reading

Reading a number of books over the summer is essential to keeping skills strong. Students should read a minimum of two books in the summer. We suggest closer to four books for skill retention and growth. Please make sure your child reads on their level.

Grades 1-4 : Please choose any books on your reading level! Click here to search for grade level of books or ask the Novel Bookstore for suggestions.  Please write the title of the book, author, number of pages, and a sentence or two about what you liked about the book for each book you read. Please hand this into your teacher on the first day of school.

Grades 5-6 : You can choose any books on your reading level. Click here to search for grade level books or ask the Novel Bookstore for suggestions. Please write the title of the book, author, the number of pages, and a summary or what you liked about the book for each book you read. Please hand this into your teacher on the first day of school. These summaries will count for a grade. All summaries should be at least 4 sentences. (MUST READ AT LEAST 2 BOOKS)

Grades 7-8 : You can choose any books on a junior high level. Click here to search for grade level books or ask your local librarian (or Amazon lists reading levels too).
