2019-2020
Summer Reading Assignments

Dear GCA Parents of Rising 5 th  through 12 th  Graders,

We pray this email finds you refreshed and enjoying the summer break! In anticipation of your rising 5th through 12th grader's 2019-2020 English/Literature class, you will find included in this email everything they need to know in order to complete their summer reading assignment. These assignments help to alleviate some of the pressure on students, families, and teachers during the school year, as well as to help give students a basic preface to each course.

Listed below, according to the rising grade level, you will find the reading selection, including version required (each title is hyperlinked to the correct edition on Amazon), and instructions. You will also need to download any pertinent attachments listed for your child's class. Some teachers have included brief introductions to the works along with basic guides or analysis questions to help prepare the students for immediate discussion and analysis as soon as the school year begins.  All summer reading assignments should be completed PRIOR to the first day of class.  All students will be assessed on their completion of the assignment(s) and their comprehension of the work during the regular school year.

We know that many families have their own summer-study routines, extra-curricular activities, and family-bonding excursions. This is in no way meant to detract from any of those. We are praying that you will each view this as a great way to gently introduce students to the literature they'll be studying in the coming year, as well as to help properly pace them throughout the entire year.

Thank you so much for partnering with us as we pursue the same goal: to provide a distinctly Christ-centered, biblical, and classical education, producing students who glorify God in their thoughts, words, and deeds.
