Oceanside Public Library invites children, teens, and adults to participate in Summer Reading 2021 by signing up online at www.oceansidepubliclibrary.org. All ages earn prizes and are invited to attend literacy-based, educational and fun online events from June 1 through August 7, 2021. This year’s theme is “Reading Colors Your World,” with a focus on exploring art, expanding horizons through new reads, and finding beauty in diversity in the Oceanside community. Summer Reading is sponsored by the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library.

Children, ages 0-12, earn prizes for reading 10 hours or 10 books and can also complete fun and engaging optional activities. After reading 10 hours or 10 books, kids earn a prize bag with a free book, museum coupon, and craft kit, and will be entered into weekly prize drawings for gift cards. Kids and families can enjoy online storytimes, participate in book clubs, and attend other events online too.

Teens, ages 13-18, earn prizes for reading and reviewing 5 books and the chance to win grand prizes for book reviews, and will be entered into weekly prize drawings for gift cards. Teens can participate in online programs including a variety of book clubs, game nights, and art classes. Teen volunteers looking for something to do can volunteer virtually for the Library by completing several helpful projects.

Adults participate in Summer Reading too! Pick up a prize just for signing up. Log a review for each book or audiobook you read and you will be entered into a weekly prize drawing for a chance to win prizes to help color your world. Adults can also participate in special programs highlighting people that have colored our world. Look out for Community Voices writing workshops that will culminate in a colorful performance on August 8.
