This Week at WCDPL
Coffee Talk Book Discussion
Join us to discuss The Wonder Boy of Whistle Stop by Fannie Flagg via Zoom on June 17 at 11:00 am. Bud Threadgoode grew up in the bustling little railroad town of Whistle Stop with his mother, Ruth, church-going and proper, and his Aunt Idgie, the fun-loving hell-raiser. Together they ran the town’s popular Whistle Stop Cafe, known far and wide for its fun and famous fried green tomatoes. And as Bud often said of his childhood to his daughter Ruthie, “How lucky can you get?”

To register, send an email to [email protected]. or call (419) 352-5050.
When Stars are Scattered Book Discussion
Join WCDPL, the NW Ohio Immigrant Rights Network, and our local library partners in a community book discussion on "When Stars Are Scattered" by Victoria Jamieson and Omar Mohamed on Tuesday, June 15 at 6:00 pm. This National Book Award Finalist tells the story of Omar and his brother Hassan, Somalian refugees who lived for years in a UN refugee camp in Kenya, waiting and working for an opportunity to find a new home.

Together we'll discuss their story and what it can teach us about the reality of life as an immigrant and refugee. For call information and how to join, click here.
