The 2026 summer reading programs feature themes such as "Unearth a Story" and offer resources for children and families. "Unearth a Story" focuses on dinosaurs, paleontology, and archaeology, promoting curiosity through STEAM and the humanities.
Join us this summer, on Wednesday Afternoons at 4:00 pm in the Ham Room. Please be aware that during the summer, our park project will be underway, so the park will be unavailable.

Unearth a Story: Author /Illustrator Marty Kelley

Unearth a Story: The Fox Family's Field w/ Squam Lakes Science Center
Wednesday, July 15th

- How does wildlife use a landscape?
- Does it change over time?
- What wildlife stories have been captured using trail cameras?
At Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, you can explore different natural areas virtually. Since 2017, we’ve collected maps, pictures, videos, and graphs showing four animals: red foxes, white-tailed deer, coyotes, and black bears.
You will also get a chance to meet live animals with a Squam Lakes naturalist!
This program is great for kids in elementary school and older.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in various hands-on activities, building contests, and interactive LEGO sessions designed to inspire imagination and teamwork. While we will be giving away fun prizes throughout the event, please note that not every child will receive a prize.

Calling all future astronauts and space explorers! The countdown has begun for the Mission to Mars Summer Camp—and you won't want to miss out!
Join us for a week, from August 17th to August 21st, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, in the Ham Room. This year's camp is in partnership with Project Succeed, and we are ready to launch into an adventure like no other!
Conway, we have a problem! Humanity needs your innovative ideas to plan the next thrilling journey to Mars; this camp is your chance to be part of it!
During this incredible week, learn how to use a 3D Printer, VEX Robotics, and more to launch a rocket to Mars, collect samples to send home, and even establish a Martian Colony!
Registration is REQUIRED, and space is limited for grades 4, 5, & 6. We ask that students attending be entering 4th grade for the '26-'27 school year to account for the requisite skills to successfully participate in Mission 2 Mars.

Squam Lakes Museum Passes

Are you looking for new ways to use your library card? Consider enjoying a fun and educational experience at the Squam Lakes Science Center! Join us in celebrating the Squam Lakes' 60th anniversary in 2026!
We are offering a special pass for up to four individuals at a discounted price of $15. The trail season runs from May 1st to November 1st, daily from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with the last admission at 3:30 PM. Each pass permits one admission per day.
In addition, we offer other passes. Be sure to use your library card to obtain a pass. Please note that only one pass is available per day. A heartfelt thanks to the Friends of the Conway Public Library for their support in making these passes possible!

Purple Finch Award

The Children's Librarians of New Hampshire are pleased to present the first-ever nominee list for the new Purple Finch Award, featuring books for readers in 3rd and 4th grades.
The Purple Finch will highlight ten titles chosen by professional youth librarians in the state, based on quality and kid appeal. This is the same committee that brings you the Great Stone Face Award for readers in 5th-6th grades.
Every spring, a new list of nominees will be announced, and readers in grades 3-4 will be invited to vote on their favorite during the following April. Votes can be submitted through either your public or school library.
