The Shir Shalom VT Auction is Live
Have you checked out the amazing selection of items available?

The Shir Shalom VT Online Auction is just one part of our biggest fundraiser of the year. Our mission is to raise funds to continue providing outstanding services to our congregation.

Through donations from generous community members and area businesses, we present a collection of exciting services and gifts. Please enjoy "window shopping" at our auction, and if something appeals to you, your bid will be appreciated beyond words.
Please come to Shir Shalom’s great Summer Fund Raiser on July 16 in the outdoor pavilion at VINS in Quechee.
Our theme for this year’s summer fundraiser is Together Again, as we celebrate Rabbi’s Ten Years with us.

Enjoy a full schedule of activities
Starting @ 4, visit the Forest Canopy Walk and attend the cocktail/hors d’oeuvres hour 5-6, followed by a delicious buffet dinner, music and Live Auction. See our Live Auction items and Wish List in the invitation! Can’t wait to see you there. If you would like to be involved in helping in any way, please let us know.

SCHOLAR-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM
WAS A GREAT SUCCESS!

Scholar-in-Residence lecture by Brandeis Professor Jonathan Decter on Saturday about Jews who lived under Moslem rule in Medieval Spain was

Susanna Stein plays the violin with
Dan Elias on the clarinet

absolutely fascinating, and the Elias Ladino Ensemble’s songs on Saturday afternoon had the audience singing, clapping, even dancing a bit.

A bonus of the SIR program for in-person and on-line audiences and for a dozen Shir Shalom musicians was the fun of a jam session with the Ladino Ensemble after Friday Evening Services. Applause and thanks go to SIR co-chairs Leone Bushkin, Peggy Kasden, and Arnold Cohen, to Pam Goldman for the wonderful buffet dinner on Friday hosted by Rabbi and Nick Haigh, and to all those who helped make SIR 2022 Part I a delicious success.

SIR 2022 promises more to come on Jewish arts and innovations during the Golden Age of Spain. They are programs you won’t want to miss.
Please join our community in Israel this Fall

Shir Shalom VT is planning its third trip to Israel for October 26 – November 6, 2022. We invite you to join us on the adventure and a learning opportunity of a lifetime. As we explore Israel, we will delve into the complexities and wonder of the land and our people. Israel remains both a challenging and amazing miracle for the Jewish people. As the tour makes its way through the state, you will encounter the markets, local foods, amazing history, economic challenges and accomplishments, and a sense of being one with our people.

Join friends in Prayer
Wednesdays at 8:30 am

Prayer is meaningless unless it is subversive, unless it seeks to overthrow and to ruin the pyramids of callousness, hatred, opportunism, falsehoods. The liturgical movement must become a revolutionary movement, seeking to overthrow the forces that continue to destroy the promise, the hope, the vision.

COVID-19 Resources
Vermont Expands Utility-Assistance Program

The WARF: COVID-19 fund is joining with Barnard Helping Hands and King’s Daughters to offer grants of up to $1000 for those seeking help with their home heating bills. If you need help paying your oil, propane, or electric bill, or you need help paying for wood or pellets, you may be eligible. Grant money will be paid directly to your fuel supplier and can be used towards a past bill or to prepay a future bill.

We’re going to need to pull together to get through this winter. Don’t forget that even if you’ve never needed help before, you can reach out to WARF for financial assistance with basic household needs at www.woodstockarearelieffund.org

The Thompson Aging at Home program can help facilitate Homesharing!

Homesharing is a simple idea where two or more people share a home for mutual benefit. A person offers a private bedroom and shared common space in exchange for rent, help around the home or a combination of the two. After conducting background and reference checks, we will work to find the most compatible match possible based on your interests, needs, and lifestyle. There are no age or income restrictions to be eligible for the program. Please contact Shari at The Thompson Center for more info or an application: 802-457-3277, [email protected] Information can also be found at https://www.thompsonseniorcenter.org/homeshare/
