Summer 2020 red wine selections Part 2
Greetings!

Here is another selection of reds to see you through the second half of this summer.

The Coteaux Bourguignons is an all encompassing appellation for red and white burgundy and the Lettre d'Eloise below is a great example of the fruity flavour profile with mild tannins that is meant to be drunk young. This makes the 2018 vintage an ideal summer red, which takes kindly to being served slightly chilled too. In the hands of a fine producer like Bertrand Amboise, this entry level burgundy is sensational value.

South Africa's signature grape, Pinotage, can offer excellent all-rounders like this example from Ashbourne featured below. The richness and depth of the Pinotage is freshened by the lightness and brightness of the Cinsault. Combined, they provide the sort of vibrant and juicy red that is great to have at hand over the summer and autumn.

And finally, a classy red from Tuscany. The stony soils in this part of Maremma are well suited to Cabernet Sauvignon, which forms the basis of Fertuna's Lodai. A few years of bottle age has given the wine some really appealing complexity and character.

All three wines are in stock and available for delivery.

Offered per case of 6 x 75cl and prices include VAT. Usual delivery terms apply. Subject to availability.

I do hope these wines are of interest and please let me know if you would like to place an order.

Best regards

Lettre d'Eloïse Pinot Noir 2018, Domaine Bertrand Ambroise, Côteaux Bourguignons
From vines within the commune of Nuits St Georges, but to the east of the railway line where the land is flatter. Wonderfully aromatic with masses of red fruits, ripe tannins and fresh acidity. Drink now and over the next 3 years.

£84 per case of 6 bottles
Ashbourne Pinotage / Cinsault 2018, Hemel En Aarde, South Africa
Sourced from two parts of the Swartland, rather than the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, this is the second vintage of this 80/20 blend. It’s a tangy, tart, pomegranate and summer berry style with fine tannins and no wood at all. 93 Points”

Ashbourne pinotage cinsault
Lodai 2015, Tenuta di Fortuna, Maremma, Tuscany
A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 10% Sangiovese. Matured for 12 months in French oak. Great complexity on the nose with notes of dark berry fruits, cherries, tobacco and spice. The palate continues this fruit profile with coffee notes and good acidity offering elegance and balance on the finish. Good mature character and reminiscent of a quality red Bordeaux.

£130 per case of 6 bottles
