Summer STEAM Institute

WOOHOO! On, April 18, 2023, we launched the summer planning and collaboration with @EngagingCreativeMinds!  So excited to bring arts experiences to Jasper County students thanks to @ArtsGrowSC, @SCArtsComm and @educationSC.

The students of Jasper County will experience arts thru STEAM, this summer, during summer camp.

Engaging Creative Minds (ECM) will provide a Summer STEAM Institute at Ridgeland Elementary and Ridgeland Secondary Academy of Excellence located at 250 Jaguar Trail Ridgeland, SC 29936, funded by Arts Grow SC.

Throughout the year, during summer enrichment and after school, JCSD will participate in this experience. The district was awarded $5 Million in grant funds thru Arts Grow SC.

The dates of summer enrichment are June 6-29, 2023 (Monday – Thursday) from 7:30AM to 3:00 PM.

This experience will support 100 students in Grade(s) Kindergarten thru 8th, and 10th thru 12th grade high school students who will be paid as junior counselors.

Look forward to more information to come!

Mrs. Velayuthan Honored at Teacher of the Year Ceremony

On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, Governor Henry McMaster hosted the finalists for South Carolina's Teacher of the Year honor at the SC State House and Governor's Mansion. Our very-own finalist, Mrs. Amsavalli Velayuthan (Mrs. V) was in attendance with a delegation from Jasper County School District that included District Superintendent Dr. Rechel Anderson, RSAE Principal Adrienne Maybank and Mrs. Velayuthan's family and friends. There, State Superintendent Ellen Weaver announced the winner of the 2023 Teacher of the Year honor.

Although Mrs. V did not win; we are proud of her much-deserved achievement of becoming a finalist. Our district is proud to have a teacher of her quality. She is dedicated to the students at RSAE and an asset to her colleagues. Jasper County is a better place with Mrs. V in it! Join us in wishing her hearty congratulations!
