This interactive STEM teacher workshop explores the intersection of earth sciences and engineering design through the lens of carbon storage technologies. Participants will investigate sedimentary rock characteristics that underpin carbon storage, such as rock layering, porosity and permeability, and will apply engineering design processes to develop innovative storage solutions.
UT Austin’s Choose Energy Outreach team will lead hands-on activities, real-world case studies, and collaborative problem‑solving sessions that equip educators with practical strategies for integrating these concepts into their classrooms, fostering critical thinking and sustainability awareness among students.
This workshop is open to 6th–12th-grade STEM teachers.
