Hi {First Name},
Thanks to everyone who came out, called & emailed to help us celebrate 90 years of growing local on June 12th. We had an absolute blast. The parking lot was full and if we had to guess over 600 people dropped by. Our staff dressed up in their favourite Gemmell's decade( see above). Rob dressed up as his grandfather who started this business which was truly the best costume of the day!
We will continue our 90 years of growing celebration throughout the rest of the season....stay tuned!
PLANT LOSS
Many of you may have experienced plant loss this spring. Old established evergreens especially yews and boxwood have seen major winter burn this season. We also have had an unprecedented number of returns on guaranteed plants.
Many people are asking us why? The main cause is the extreme drought we had last summer. Improper watering or lack of deep watering through droughts is extremely stressful on plants. That coupled with harsh winter winds is often too much for even the most established trees & shrubs. When we get long runs of dry weather please remember to give your gardens good LONG soakings to help them survive. I have included a link to our watering blog below for those interested in reading more.
BUG TIME
Summer bugs and diseases are in full swing. If you are struggling drop into the garden centre for expert advice from our knowledgable staff on protecting your plants.
CANADA DAY
We are open at both locations this Canada Day from 10-4.
Follow us on Instagram @gemmellsgarden or Facebook for all the latest plant arrivals and info.
Peace & Plants,
Kelly
