Asparagus - $7.50 or 2 for $12.50

A few years ago one of our bigger orchards retired and sold. They also grew asparagus for us. We've been short a few years on this crop.


Well, sometimes time fixes everything. The new operators threw in the towel, and the old team is back at the helm. Matt and Rich are tending to the trees and the old asparagus patch. This week's harvest is a welcome surprise!

We expect a decent supply for the next 2 weeks.

Strawberries

If you are looking to make jam or freeze some, maybe wait a week. I think peak will be next week. But hard to say.

This year's berry crop looks to be light. Last year's drought stressed the traditional "matted row" berries, reducing their potential. This year's late frosts knocked off the first few blossoms on the plasticulture berries. And thrips - an unusual pest for strawberries - has also had an impact.

We get our supply daily and never know what's coming in....I'm listing berries cautiously in case we get shorted. If we have extra, expect some at the back of the trucks. Preorder fast before they are gone.

Strawberry Basil Vinaigrette Salad Dressing

It's salad season now. The spring greens are tender and sweet. There is no reason to ruin them with a bad dressing.

Making salad dressing at home is really quite easy, but we know that not everyone wants to do that, so we put together a homemade salad dressing for you.

We start our dressing by making a base emulsion of whole farm eggs, lemon juice, and oil. We fold in a puree of strawberries and some basil for a seasonal touch. **Keep Refrigerated at all times.

Boston Butt Roast - a well marbled pork shoulder roast, ideal for braise or smoking.

Cluckin Creamy Chicken Drumsticks - pasture raised chicken drumsticks marinated in a A2 Guernsey yogurt, lemon, and fresh herbs.

Other Features

WVF Cottage Cheese - a homemade cottage cheese using A2 Guernsey milk, with curds set in a cultured milk dressing for a balance of creaminess and tang.

WVF Farm Blend Hot Dogs - A new product this year, mild and snappy, ideal for the whole family. We created a blend where grassfed beef is still the primary ingredient, but softened it some with pasture raised chicken and pork. This tender hot dog is cured with only the naturally occurring nitrates of celery powder and smoked over hickory. 8 links per lb. Bun sized.

Strawberry Shortcakes - As they say, 'tis the season. This year we switched up the shortcake to a chiffon style that should hold up better in transport. It's a 4 inch round - 2 per package - and plenty big for a sharable dessert. Top with macerated strawberries and fresh whipped cream.

A2 Guernsey Whipping Cream - we have extra whipping cream coming in this week for those who enjoy making their own homemade whipped cream

Last of the Apples - Not quite as seasonal as we like, but a nice surprise. Most apples go into a cooperative storage facility called controlled atmosphere (CA). The oxygen is removed from a refrigerated room, extending the storage life of apples. You don't open up the CA locker often, as it takes time to pump out the air and get back into storage conditions. Our friends at Rittman Orchards have been holding back some apples from last fall just in time for when their farm market opens. They just pulled the last apples out of storage and this week we have a few great options - Goldrush, Gala, Winesap, Pink Lady, and Jonagold.
