Welcome to GFC’s Summer Series of Impact, a seasonal newsletter outlining the transformative difference YOU have helped create throughout the cancer experience for patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Over the next eleven Wednesdays, we will share mission accomplishments and impact updates across Golf Fights Cancer’s 'Six Priorities of Giving', highlighting our beneficiaries and the significant difference we are making in the fight against cancer.

Please join us on this inspirational journey showcasing the collective giving power of the golf community!

What began in 2003 with a small group of friends who were inspired to make a difference has now grown into a transformative and powerful community, creating life-changing impact for tens of thousands each year.

Since inception, Golf Fights Cancer has directed $9 Million in grant funding to 70 leading cancer-related charities, effecting a significant and tangible impact for cancer patients and their families. None of this would have been possible without the support of our donors – including YOU!

What makes GFC's mission unique?

With two almost two decades of experience as a trusted steward and collaborator in the cancer sector, we focus on rallying our community of donors to help provide critical funding to transformational, innovative, and harder to fund projects and programs.

Brian Oates & Jay Monahan

Golf Fights Cancer wouldn’t exist without the inspiration of Co-Founders, Jay Monahan & Brian Oates. These two successful Boston-based sports marketers and life-long golfers responded to the passing of friend and colleague, Rob Stevens, by committing to make a difference within their close network of friends, family, and colleagues.

What immediately followed was their decision to run the 2004 Boston Marathon. Moved by the tremendous outpouring of support, Jay and Brian quickly realized that Golf Fights Cancer had the potential to impact not only the lives of those they knew, but also the cancer community at large.

For almost 20 years, Jay and Brian have been lionizing forces for the cause, inspiring hundreds of volunteers and thousands of donors to join them in their calling. Their families have grown, their careers have advanced, and their commitment to improve the treatment experience for patients and families continues to reach new heights!
