NEWS FROM THE FOUNDATION

A local craft carpenter has built this one-of-a-kind Little Library for the Redwood City Library Foundation to auction off to benefit Redwood City Public Library. If you wish to bid on the Little Library, sign up to be informed when bidding starts by emailing RCLF at: rclf-info@redwoodcity.org

Help RCLF support community education about banned books and censorship efforts. Book bans threaten the freedom to think, to question, and to grow. Even in the Bay Area, books are threatened, but we are fortunate that our local leaders believe in protecting the right to read.

In celebration of Banned Books Week 2025 from October 5-11, join fellow library supporters on October 8 for the 4th Annual Pub Crawl. Enjoy discounted libations and snacks and learn more about censorship threats and how you can speak up. Censorship is so 1984!

A reminder that Early Bird $40 ticket sales for the RCLF 4th Annual Pub Crawl ends September 12. Ticket prices are $50 after that date. Get your tickets today!

CITY NEWS

A Beginner’s Guide to Redwood City’s Open Data Portal

Welcome to Redwood City’s new blog series!

In our first post, we introduce the Redwood City Open Data Portal, a user-friendly hub for interactive dashboards, maps, and downloadable datasets.

Explore local data on building permits, road closures, zoning, and more. Not sure where to begin? Try the Building Permits Dashboard or the Community GIS Map.

We’ll be sharing more tools and resources throughout the series, so stay tuned! If you’d like to follow along, click here to subscribe to the blog.

Backpack and School Supply Drive

The Redwood City Fire Department is collecting new backpacks and school supplies for students of all grade levels. From July 15 to August 15, donation barrels will be available at Redwood City and San Carlos Fire Stations, all Redwood City Public Library locations, and City Hall.

Thanks to your generous donations last year, we were able to support many local families—and with your help, we hope to assist even more this year.
