Regarding the US Postal Service:
We've always relied on the USPS to deliver our customers' orders efficiently and affordably. And it has done just that for us with very few exceptions until this summer. Starting in July, the Postal Service made policy changes that caused a backlog of mail, and we started seeing some of our shipments become delayed in transit for weeks at a time. Fortunately for us, our goods are not perishable, not a single shipment has been lost permanently, and the majority of our customers have been very patient and forgiving.
We sincerely hope the Postal Service is able to quickly resolve its current troubles and return to providing the reliable service that it has offered to us for so many years. In the meantime, we have expanded the shipping options on our website to include UPS Ground service. Choosing UPS will add to the cost of most shipments (especially the long handled tools), but if you're concerned about a package arriving by a certain deadline, you may want to consider this option.
On the plus side, our new shipping calculator also makes it much easier for international customers to order from our website, so there's a little bit of good mixed in with the bad.
