FarmUnity Garden

Chrysalis House is thrilled to share that our FarmUnity Garden is thriving and so are the incredible women who tend it. This month marked a joyful milestone: our very first harvest of the season. The beds were bursting with vibrant tomatoes, squash, green onions, and beautiful peppers, all grown with care and intention by the clients at Chrysalis House.

But this garden is about more than fresh produce. This garden has become a powerful space for nourishment, connection, and growth both literally and emotionally. The act of growing food is helping our clients cultivate confidence, healing, and community. And yes, they can confirm, it really does taste better when you grow it yourself! Stay tuned for more seasonal updates as our FarmUnity Garden continues to blossom.

Want to get your hands dirty for a good cause? We would gladly welcome volunteers to help care for the garden, it takes a lot of love and attention to keep it flourishing! If interested, please contact Debbie Daugherty at ddaugherty@chrysalishouses.org

A Visit from Sinai Hospital

This month, Chrysalis House was honored to welcome medical residents and attending physicians from Sinai Hospital’s OB/GYN Department to our Chrysalis House Healthy Start (CHHS) location in Baltimore. The visit included a thoughtful conversation in the chapel, where our CHHS Program Director, Tammy Roberts, shared the history of Healthy Start and the broader mission of Chrysalis House Inc.

The group then toured the facility, gaining insight into how CHHS provides safe, community-based housing and wraparound support to women in recovery. Sinai’s team learned about our holistic approach to helping clients:

  • Have safe, healthy pregnancies
  • Maintain sobriety and improve overall wellness
  • Strengthen parenting skills
  • Transition to independent, productive living

In a generous show of support, the physicians also brought donations for our clients including formula, baby food, diapers, wipes, and baby clothes. This kind of collaboration bridges the gap between medical care and community-based recovery, a vital connection for long-term success. We are deeply grateful to Sinai Hospital for their partnership and commitment to the health and healing of the women we serve.

Intensive Outpatient Program Happenings

This month, clients in our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) had the opportunity to visit the Glenstone Museum, where clients explored a diverse collection of indoor and outdoor art installations. The museum's blend of architecture, nature, and contemporary art provided a peaceful and inspiring atmosphere for reflection and connection.

Our IOP clients had a wonderful time. Outings like these offers much more than just a change of scenery. They are an important part of the recovery journey. Experiencing new environments, engaging in creative and recreational activities, and building meaningful peer connections all contribute to a more holistic approach to healing. These trips help reduce isolation, boost mood, and remind clients that joy, connection, and personal growth are essential parts of long-term recovery.

Stay tuned for some more upcoming outings for our IOP clients and their children including a trip to the North Arundel Aquatic Center and Six Flags America.
