Dear Holy Name Families,

With each passing day, we are getting closer and closer to opening the 2026-27 school year. We look forward to seeing everyone again, welcoming our new families, and hearing about summer adventures. We hope to see many of you in the grandstand at Fenway on September 2nd. Until then, we hope you enjoy every last minute of summer.

Below is some information about the first week of school as well as the lunch program. Additional information about clubs and activities and Extended Day will be sent next week. Homeroom assignments will be sent next week via email.

Please note that our drop-off for the first week is walk-up; the car line does not begin until September 14th. For the first few months of the year, we will be dealing with the bridge closure on the West Roxbury Parkway; please allow additional time to travel to and from school.

We will welcome our kindergarten through sixth grade students three weekfrom today.

Announcements and Reminders

• Next year, homerooms will be labeled differently than they have been in the past. For each grade level, homerooms will be differentiated as A and B (and C if there is a third homeroom). So next year, you will see K2 - A, K2 - B, K2 - C, instead of K2 - 4, K2 - 5, K2 - 6. The first part of the label indicates the grade and the second part indicates the classroom at that level. Homeroom assignments will be emailed next week.
• We will host Meet the Teacher for nursery, K1, and K2 parents on Thursday, September 3rd at 8:30 am. For grades 1 to 6, Meet the Teacher will be on Thursday, September 24th at 6:00 pm.
• Reminder: We will host Lemonade on the Lawn for students in nursery, K1, and K2 on Thursday from 3:00 to 4:30 pm for families to meet one another.
• Families do not need to purchase classroom supplies, e.g. notebooks, pencils, etc. We order individual student supply kits through EPI that we be in students' desks when they arrive on the first day. Supply kits are $55.00 and will be billed through FACTS in September. Parents only need to purchase backpacks, lunch boxes, and water bottles if needed.
• Please be sure to complete the assigned summer assignments. The work is an important diagnostic tool for our teachers that will be assessed and used during the first week of school.

We are happy to introduce and welcome new faculty to Holy Name:

• Alumna Ms. Liz Hauck returns to Holy Name as Assistant Principal. She earned her BA and M.Ed. from Boston College and recently earned her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin. Ms. Hauck began her teaching career at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Chicago before returning to Boston to teach at Boston Latin School. She will work closely with students and families in grades 1 to 6.
• Ms. Leah O'Brien will be joining us as a nursery teacher. Ms. O'Brien is a recent graduate of Curry College and has been working this summer at St. Mary of the Hills summer program.
• Ms. Noleen Smith is our new fifth grade English and Language Arts teacher. Ms. Smith earned both here BA and M.Ed from Boston College and worked previously in the Brookline Public Schools.

Kindergarten through 6th grade students begin school on Tuesday, September 8th.

• Tuesday, September 8th and Wednesday, September 9th are half-days. Dismissal is at 12 pm for kindergarten, 12:05 pm for Grades 1 to 3, and 12:10 pm Grades 4 to 6.
• Students should wear the regular fall uniform on both days.
• Students should bring a snack.
• Thursday, September 10th and Friday, September 11th are full days of school.
• Dismissal times for Thursday and Friday are 2:25 pm (Kindergarten), 2:30 pm (Grades 1 to 3), and 2:35 pm (Grades 4 to 6).
• Students should bring both a snack and lunch for Thursday and Friday.
• For the first week, morning drop-off will be walk-up. Morning assembly will be held outdoors (weather permitting). The car line will begin on Monday, September 14th.
• Drop-off begins at 7:40 am and morning assembly begins at 8:00 am.

Nursery and K1 begin on Thursday, September 10th

• Both days are half-days with dismissal at 12 pm.
• Students should bring a snack on both days.
• Drop-off begins at 8:30 am for nursery and K1 (once K2 through 6th grade have entered the building.)

Lunch Menus and Ordering

Holy Name will be partnering again with Comella's to provide a hot lunch program. The menu will feature a rotating entree with additional options that are available daily.

Lunches are $6.50. Orders are placed in the FACTS Parent Portal and lunch invoices are paid electronically through FACTS.

Orders must be placed by Wednesday at 10 pm for the following week. The first day of hot lunch is Monday, September 14th; orders must be placed by Wednesday, September 9th.

Please note that kindergarten through sixth grade students have full days on September 10th and 11th; a lunch from home must be brought on those two days. The lunch program begins the following week.

In FACTS, the lunch menus are posted for September through December. You are welcome to place orders week by week or place all your orders for the first half of the year. You can always edit your selections until the Wednesday prior. After that, the following week is locked for editing, orders are placed with Comella's, and invoices are sent in FACTS.

Holy Name Night at the Red Sox

Wednesday, September 2nd

As we have done for the last few years, we will kick-off the 2026-27 school year with a Holy Name night at a Red Sox game. The game is versus the Seattle Mariners at 4:10 pm.

Tickets must be purchased by August 26th.

Kennedy (N2) enjoyed exploring the tall ships that were parked in the Seaport in July!


Adonis has been having an amazing summer exploring the Dominican Republic! He received a special coin from the captain of a Dominican Republic tall ship!

🏀 Meet the Dribbling Divas! These soon-to-be third graders are making the most of their summer on the basketball court! Olivia, Cammy, Caroline, Everly, and Vivian all play in the MacGregor Summer Basketball League, coached by Emily Day! 💪🏀Maddie also joined in for the fun photo! 📸

Mya F. enjoyed a beautiful day sailing on the Charles River under brilliant blue skies!

🌲 Summer Adventures in the Adirondacks! 🌲 Mrs. Beatrice and family members enjoyed time in the Adirondacks and recently hiked Owl’s Head Mountain in beautiful Long Lake, NY! The spectacular views from the fire tower made the climb well worth it! What a beautiful day, a hike, a swim at Long Lake beach and dinner at The Park. ☀️
