SUMMER UPDATE

We hope you are having a wonderful and relaxing summer vacation with your families! Here at Energy we are working hard to prepare for a successful and exciting year. This newsletter is full of important information regarding the new school year, summer activities, and exciting news, so please read carefully!

Please remember our staff works limited hours during the summer, the campus will be closed Fridays through July. If you have an immediate concern, please call the office directly at 713.802.4620.

REGISTRATION

If you did not attend registration in April, May, or June, please download and complete the attached registration packet below. In addition to these documents, you must submit the following items:

Birth Certificate
Parent/Guardian License
Social Security Card (optional)
Immunization Records
504, Special Education Documentation
Final 8th grade report card

Registration Packet

You can submit your registration packet to the main office Monday - Thursday from 8:30am - 4:00pm. if you have questions or concerns regarding new student registration please email: jmoon2@houstonisd.org

Energy teachers have prepared an exciting menu of summer reading and enrichment options in order to keep your mind stimulated and engaged over the summer months! To access the website, click the link below and get started!

ENERGY SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

If you are interested in reviewing math material or SAT prep tutorials we strongly encourage students to visit KHAN ACADEMY.

COMMUNICATION FORM

If you did not complete the communication form at registration OR you would like to update your current communication information to include more email addresses or additional cell phone numbers please complete the Energy Communication Form.

REGISTRATION BUNDLE

This year Energy provided a registration bundle payment option which included one polo shirt, laptop fee, and a camp contribution. If you did not have the opportunity to make the payment during registration you can pay online by visiting the PTO website: ENERGY PTO.

When you visit the website you will be able to create an account, order additional polos, learn about volunteer information, and much more! We strongly encourage all new families to join and support the PTO as all fundraising efforts directly support teachers and students at Energy.

SCHEDULES

Students receive their first semester schedules on the first day of school. If current students have questions or concerns about their schedule, please email your dean directly. Mrs. MacGregor is currently sending email updates about new elective additions. If you have not received these emails, please contact Mrs. MacGregor at nmacgreg@houstonisd.org.

New student course selections were completed during registration. For those who did not attend a registration date, courses will be selected based on your child's final 8th grade report card. If you have questions regarding your course selection, please send a detailed message to energyinstitutehs@gmail.com.

Students will have the opportunity to submit schedule request forms the first two weeks of school. Schedule change request forms can be found in the main office and must have a parent signature in order to be considered.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

Student school supply lists will depend on the cohort they are assigned. Student schedules will determine the cohort they are assigned, therefore school supply lists won't be available until the first day of school.

For the first day of school the only thing students will need is a pen and something to write on. Please make sure that students know their home address and emergency contact information in order to complete their enrollment card.

TRANSPORTATION

Bus routes are created based on the address and contact information provided through your HISD Choice application or the address currently in Chancery, the student information management system.

If you need to update your address, please call the school at 713.802.4620.

Bus routes are sent directly to your home address from HISD one week before school starts. Please refer to the HISD TRANSPORTATION PAGE for specific information regarding bus routes and transportation.

SUMMER PROGRAMS

We have so many students participating in amazing summer programs and we want to share your success stories and summer experiences!

Please submit any pictures you have and a brief explanation of your experiences and the program, job, or travel experience you participated in to energyinstitutehs@gmail.com.
