Changing Seasons

Hi Jordan,

Springtime is often thought of as a time for renewal and recalibration. One of our Program's core beliefs is to stay agile and grow with our audience and the times, so we used this seasonal opportunity to take a fresh look at our LL.M. Program—to seek out ways to adapt and improve.

This spring, I recently had the opportunity to conduct a series of student surveys and interviews to help us find ways to enhance and grow our LL.M. Program. I'd like to extend a very wholehearted THANK YOU for everyone's insights and feedback. And an extra thank you to those who attended the live feedback sessions and in-person meetings. I'm very excited to report that we'll be implementing some of your valuable suggestions starting in fall 2023—so stay tuned!

In the meantime, read on for updates on:

  • How to manage stress around bar exam prep for Stress Awareness Month.
  • Featured faculty for the summer semester
  • Dayton's LL.M. Program making headlines!

Looking forward to a fantastic summer semester!

3 Steps to De-Stress Your Bar Exam Prep

July will be before we know it and that means bar exam time. If you're taking "the test" this year, studies have shown that small lifestyle changes in study habits can add up to a large impact.

As Stress Awareness Month in April comes to a close, keep in mind these 3 tips to create little steps toward big rewards:

Pace Yourself

A cram session right before the test will cause burn out. Try to pace yourself and study in increments leading up to the exam.

Create a Study Routine

Build chunks of study time into your normal routine. Don’t forget to get ample amount of sunlight and movement to recharge.

Free your mind

Create time to step away and do something relaxing and fun! Think a walk outside, dinner with friends, or a trip to the museum. It's always motivating to have something to look forward to!

Meet Your Summer Instructors!

This month, we’re excited to introduce some of our esteemed faculty members for Summer 2023!

Ericka Curran

Professor Curran will be teaching the Professional Responsibility course, which looks at the duties and privileges of the legal profession, as well as an attorney’s responsibilities to the client, the community, and the profession.

Paul Madruga

Professor Madruga will teach Introduction to the U.S. Legal System. This course will introduce the basic structure and content of the U.S. legal system, as well as techniques used in legal research and legal writing in the U.S.

Hon. Mary Kate Huffman

Judge Huffman will teach Business Associations for LL.M. Students, which provides a survey of modern business entities and the laws governing business associations.

Karen Millard

Professor Millard will teach Legal Analysis, Reasoning, Research, Writing, and Communication. It provides students with expanded skills development in legal analysis, legal reasoning, problem-solving, and communication (written and oral).

Michele Nigliazzo

Professor Nigliazzo is teaching our Constitutional Law course, where students will examine basic concepts of constitutional law and judicial function.
