Christmas in July!
This week we celebrated a favorite tradition - Christmas in July! Ask any current or former camper from Camp Jeanne d’Arc and they will list Christmas in July as one of the most memorable nights at Camp. Imagine a bunch of campers dressed in red and green, Santa hats, festive decor, singing Christmas carols at the top of their lungs, drinking hot cocoa, eating gooey cinnamon rolls, and relishing in a community of strong girls.
Counselor Appreciation
By now, the campers know their counselors pretty well. After living in cabin groups for over two weeks now, campers know what will help their counselors relax! This week campers held counselor appreciation afternoon where they set up a spa-like experience with soothing music, relaxing activities, and best of all QUIET!
Fourth of July at Camp!
Want to know how we celebrate the Fourth of July at Camp Jeanne d’Arc? Read our Independence Day blog post here. You will hear about the perfect hillside waterslide technique, festive traditions, and what exactly the campers of yore would shout atop horses to celebrate the holiday!
Motor Trip!
For this year's Motor Trip, campers travelled to Ausable Chasm, dubbed the Grand Canyon of the Adirondacks, to participate in beautiful hikes and thrilling whitewater rafting. Photos do not do justice to the beautiful features of the chasm. The campers and counselors had an amazing day!
Alum Visitors
This week, we were thrilled to welcome two CJDA alum, Leila Molahan and Amelie Couture. Leila came back to Camp for the second year in a row to lead upper campers in a mindfulness and mediation workshop where they practiced yoga, guided meditation, writing letters to themselves, and more! Amelie traveled from Canada to CJDA to work on inking the newest award recipients on the treasured Hearth boards. Thank you Amelie and Leila! We love having our awesome alum at Camp!
Sunday Service
Last Sunday afternoon, campers participated in a service project to support the local community. We made blankets, penned birthday cards, crafted friendship bracelets, and assembled birthday bags for those in need in the north country region.
We hope you enjoyed this Summer Update! Stay tuned for more camp fun coming your way!
All the Best,
Liz Bateman Rambo
