Good Morning
September is cruising by. We have been so busy everywhere. At the warehouse, trying to get the freezer in order as we stock up for Winter has been overwhelming. At the farm...I don't even know where to begin. Turkeys, of course. Broilers, hogs, and beef. Check. But the biggest distraction has been chasing a few steers that have been on the loose for a while now. I'll update you all when the story is all said and done. It's been a frustrating journey to say the least.
And I know everyone is asking about turkey orders and winter signup. They are coming. We hope to have at least the turkey order form ready later this week. Watch for a separate email.
Oh and on a completely separate note. This one is fascinating to me. One of the biggest trends in the last few years is produce growers switching production to "non-edibles." Essentially things like corn stalks, straw bales, gourds and pumpkins. It's a big attraction at the local auction market. It's easy, not very perishable, and brings good money. Last Wednesday I was talking to the manager at the auction. He said they had their biggest day ever. 19,000 carving pumpkins and 10,000 pie pumpkins! They sell 3 days per week. It's an amazing number.
And yes, we'll be offering some of those items again probably next week. There simply hasn't been room on our trucks lately to get anything extra back to the warehouse.
Thanks
Trevor
