Did You Know?

We request that students not bring cell phones and other electronics to Extended Day. If they need to contact you they may use the building telephones.
Due to a cell phone we had an incident with the local police. Someone in the building called 911 on a cell phone and the police responded as required. After questioning leadership staff they walked through the building to make sure everything was fine. Thankfully everything was fine, but this is a serious and concerning incident.
Please don't send cell phones to Extended Day. There are special circumstances, but please clear it with leadership first . Thanks!

PEEK INTO
WEEK 7
What's up this week??
Monday the older students (grades 3-4) are headed to Feed My Starving Children. If you're not familiar with this organization, they tackle world hunger by sending volunteer-packed, nutritious meals to nearly 70 countries each year, where they're used to operate orphanages, schools, clinics and other building blocks of healthy communities in areas of the world where disaster, poverty, disease, and other circumstances prevent regular access to nutritious food. In the most recent fiscal year, FMSC produced more than 333 million meals and engaged over 1.2 million volunteers in the United States. FMSC's top three receiving countries were Haiti, Nicaragua, and the Philippines.  Your children will be part of this great work!
On Tuesday the K-2 kiddos will be heading to Como Pool to make a BIG SPLASH! Wednesday we will have a Stuffed Animal Show! Send the favorite! On Thursday the 3-4 graders will be going to Circus Juventas to watch a spectacular show full of acrobatics and aerial circus performers. Finally, on Friday, it's our Bike Rodeo! Bring bikes and helmets! We will also be making our own pizzas for lunch, so a home lunch is NOT needed.

PEEK BACK AT WEEK 6
It was a HOT and WILD week, but we all had a BLAST!! We saw some fabulous book characters on Monday! This inspired lots of conversation about our favorite stories. We had a special visitor who talked with all of our kids about the importance of energy conservation. Maybe they'll turn off the lights around the house more often?? On Tuesday, National Ice Cream Day, we all screamed for ice cream, and got some!! Yum! Wednesday Water Day was WET! The warm weather makes it a super relief! On Thursday we had a fun and fabulous Fashion Show! Your kids are awesome! Thanks for letting them dress up! Then Friday we all cleared out. Big Marine Lake Park was a good time. The climbers and equipment there are wonderful and the kids kept busy seeking out all the new spaces. There was drinking water aplenty between our cooler and drinking fountain, and shade tress kept us all a little more comfortable. Kids have sooo much energy. When we got back to Oneka we kept it low key and quiet for a bit. Then kids were up and at 'em as usual for the rest of the afternoon. The older kids went to Cascade Bay for the latter part of the day and had a wet and wonderful time! It's one of our favorite pools with so much to do! It was a great way to keep cool! A busy and wonderful week. Now on to week 7!
Good Things to Know
Clothing and accessories:

Field Trip T-shirts ! This week: grades 3-4 on Monday and Thursday. Feed My Starving Children and Circus Juventas respectively!! PLEASE! ALWAYS make sure your child has their field trip t-shirt to wear on field trip days! It is for their safety and staff's peace of mind.

Suits and Towels : This week grades K-2 grades go to Como Pool on Tuesday! Suits and towels please!! Please make note of all water days and days we have field trips to pools or water parks. Your child will be highly disappointed if they don't have swimwear and a towel so that they can join in!

Footwear: Tennis shoes!! Tennis shoes!! Flip-flops, slides, and sandals are a great summer shoe, but are NOT great for the activities we do in Extended Day. A big part of our day is being active! Field trips, the gym, and outside all require a sturdier, safer shoe for the walking, running, and exploring that we do every day! Feed My Starving Children requires closed-toe shoes. Please send your student with tennis shoes!
