WHERE TO FIND ONEKA EXTENDED DAY

The school is located at 4888 Heritage Parkway North. Come in the main entrance and then go left into the cafeteria. Staff will be there to greet you and your child and help you proceed from there.  If you arrive between the hours of 9-11:30 or 12:30-3:20 the students and staff will be in other parts of the building. Please make sure you find a staff after signing your child in. Do not leave children in the building by themselves!

Our Family Handbook , which is absolutely PACKED with information you need to know, is available right HERE! A sample of what you will find includes: Sites and Contact Information, Registration Information, Contracts, Billing and Payments, Safety Information and Protocols, General Information, Illness and Medical Conditions, and
Youth with Different Abilities. Take a peek if you're not sure about something!
Fill out ASAP!!
Electronic Forms for: Swim levels, Sunscreen permission, Movie Permission - HERE!
Please complete this prior to the first day of programming.
~Fill out the appropriate grade level section for swimming. If we don't have this information, your child may not be able to swim on a pool field trip day.
~The sunscreen section is for your child's safety. We have sunscreen onsite that we would like your child to use in case they run out or can't find their own. We spend ample time outside and want to prevent sunburns! We need your permission to share or help apply!
~Occasionally we may show a movie: a rainy day, a special event, or just for fun. We cannot show any movies other than G-rated without parental permission. So many kid friendly movies are rated PG. (like Moana, Finding Dory, Inside Out, Frozen, Incredibles 2, etc). Giving us your permission will enable us to let your child watch if they so wish. Movies will never be the ONLY option at any given time.

We will have a chrome book available so you can submit this info electronically at school if you haven't been able to at home. It will take about two minutes.
Will you be taking a vacation this summer? Click HERE to see how to ask for a Vacation Credit! To receive vacation credit, the Extended Day Office must be notified in writing a minimum of two weeks in advance. Only families on a consistent contract enrolled for the entire summer program qualify for vacation credit. The number of days per week of the consistent contract is how many vacation days during the summer a family can receive. Failure to give a two week written notice will result in being charged the normal weekly fee. Credit will be applied to accounts on the last bill of the summer. Vacation credit is given during the summer program only.
What to Bring the First Day!
FORMS
Authorization for Administration of Medication: ( click here ) We only need this form if your child will be using any type of medication this summer. It must be signed by both a parent and a physician. If bringing medication it must be in the original bottle with your child's name on it. You will be signing a form indicating what you are dropping off.
CLOTHING AND MORE:
Suits and Towels : Please make note of all water days, and days we have field trips to pools or water parks. Your child will be highly disappointed if they cant participate because they don't have swimwear and a towel. Many pools do not allow people to swim if they don't have swimwear: in other words: no shorts or other clothes not meant as swimwear. Unless your child has a swimsuit or a spare set of clothes at Oneka, we cannot have them participate in a water day on site.
Footwear: Tennis shoes!! Tennis shoes!! Flip-flops, slides, and sandals are a great summer shoe, but are NOT great for the activities we do in Extended Day. A big part of our day is being active! Field trips, the gym, and outside all require a sturdier, safer shoe for the walking, running, and exploring that we do every day! Please send your student with tennis shoes!
Spare set of clothes: Ple ase send a complete set for your child to be kept in their locker. Children may need a change of clothes for various reasons: accidents happen! We have found it can be an enormous inconvenience for families to have to come to Extended Day with clean or dry clothing. It can be less embarrassing for the kids to be able to take care of their own needs as well. If they have spare clothes, they can take care of themselves! It's a win-win way to be organized!
Water Bottle and Sunscreen: Always come with sunscreen already applied. We will be reapplying through the day. Summer is HOT and we spend an enormous amount of time outside. We cannot stress enough the need for sunscreen and water! Please bring sunscreen for your child, labeled with their name. A water bottle is a must too. Please make sure your students name is clearly marked on this as well.
Other Things You Will Need Over The Summer
Field Trip T-shirts! PLEASE! ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS make sure your child has their field trip t-shirt to wear on field trip days! It is for their safety and staff's peace of mind. Our field trips are often busy with other summer groups visiting the same places. When all of our kiddos have matching shirts we can keep track of them so much easier than if they blend in with any and every other child present. Safety First! We do not have extra shirts for children who come without.

Helmets: We have two days scheduled for which your child will need a bike helmet in order to participate. Students may bring their own scooters or skates on 7/10, and bikes on Bike Rodeo Day (7/26).
Hats and sunglasses: If your child has a sensitivity to the sun you are encouraged to provide hats or sunglasses for outdoor use.
Money $$: Students will not need to bring money on any of our field trips. There are a few trips where children often choose to bring cash. There are concessions at all the pools, the Twins Game, Saints North, and a few others. It is your choice if you wish to send money with your child. We will do our best to help them keep track of it and to be responsible with it, but ultimately it is at your own risk to send cash.

FIELD TRIP INFORMATION!

  • Field trip groups are split up based on the grade your child will be entering in the fall.
  • Most field trips will leave after lunch, however there may be some field trips that we ask you to pack a bag lunch. You will be notified of these special occasions in advance.
  • We ask that children wear their orange Program Shirt on each field trip. You will receive this shirt on your first day of summer, and it is yours to keep. We also recommend tennis shoes for all field trips.
  • For swim trips, we provide a swim shirt for your child to wear over their suit as additional sun protection and identification. We will collect these at the end of each swim trip to launder them.
  • The cost of field trips is covered by your daily tuition, however, there may be some field trips where the students have the option to bring additional spending money to make personal purchases. We will notify you of these special circumstances, however please note that the kids are responsible for their own money.
