Papi, the boy from St. Croix, is no beach bum! He is energetic and wants to be the center of your world. Papi has had a lifetime of ups and downs, even being displaced by a hurricane. He truly is lucky to be alive.

Reserved and scared upon his arrival, Papi has changed for the better. Once he trusts you, you've made a loyal friend for life. Kids overwhelm him, so adults, especially women, are his bread & butter. He loves to run at least three times a day - he's even helped one staff member drop some weight! He is crate and house trained. He enjoys hard chew toys like knuckle bones, and likes to run amok outside, occasionally tasting flowers and long blades of grass. He bonds hard with his person and thrives on routine and consistency more than anything else. In a nutshell, he is simply a dog who wants to be a dog!

Paws for the Cause:
Molly Green's 6th Annual Humane Society of Charlotte Fundraiser

Thursday, June 28 | 6 - 8 pm | Cedarwood Country Club

If you have not been to this event in the past and you don't know the story, Molly Green is a great example of how you can make a difference in animal welfare no matter what your age and circumstances. Molly has been a dog lover her whole life but unfortunately, she is allergic to dogs, and has been unable to adopt one of her own.

Since she hasn't been able to adopt, Molly decided that she would help in a different way by raising funds to help all the animals at the Humane Society of Charlotte.
At the age of 13, Molly decided to hold a "hot dog" dinner to raise funds for the dogs. She branded the event "Paws for the Cause", created a logo, and has been involved in everything from planning the menu, to inviting friends and neighbors and soliciting items for a silent auction at her event. Her Paws for the Cause fundraiser has grown from raising $1,500 in 2013 to a grand total of nearly $40,000.

To RSVP, please email  events@humanecharlotte.org  or call 704-494-7711.

HSC Launches a NEW Program: Working Cats

HSC Working Cats is a new program to help cats not suited to indoor life find "employment" and new homes.

Some  Community Cats, once spayed/neutered through our TNR program, cannot be returned to the outdoor environment they called home due to varying circumstances. To help these cats find a permanent home, HSC has launched "Working Cats".

Working Cats are usually accustomed to an outdoor life and un-socialized to humans. They are not suited to be indoor pet companions. These cats are often called "stray" or "feral" and avoid the touch of human hands. These cats often hunt snakes, rats, or mice, making them an excellent form of natural rodent control.

Those interested in having a cat help keep everything "business as usual" can adopt a spayed/neutered working cat. All HSC Working Cats are vaccinated against rabies, microchipped, and in need of a new outdoor home.

Did we mention that Working Cat adoptions are also free?

Examples of suitable outdoor homes for Working Cats are:
  • Barns
  • Garages
  • Warehouses
  • Yards with suitable shelters
