Summer at the Seashore is in full swing and our calendar is full of classes, volunteer days, and so much more! From fire ecology hikes to sea shanty sing-alongs to art in nature, you're sure to find a class that speaks to you. Information and registration details can be found below. Field Institute Classes
Sat, Aug. 5, 9:00am - 3:00pm

Learn to express nature's moods and channel the soundscapes of Point Reyes with your instrument. Open to any amateur or semi-professional musician.

Sun, Aug. 6, 10:00am - 4:00pm

Learn Qigong (energy cultivation) techniques to connect intimately with nature and express your discoveries through journaling and collage. All levels welcome.

Sat, Aug. 12, 10:00am - 2:00pm

Draw beautiful summer flowers and explore various colored pencil and botanical illustration techniques. All levels are welcome in this class.

This month we'll walk along the big blue herself... the Pacific Ocean. We'll walk down Drakes Beach at a leisurely pace for about 2 miles. Become a member today for as little as $10 a month!

Enjoy a summer evening listening to acoustic music inspired by the National Parks! PRNSA and the NPS welcome David Boye to the Bear Valley picnic area for a free, public performance.

Avast, ye saucy sailors! Join the NPS for a rollicking good time at the Sea Shanty Sing-along. Meet in the courtyard of the Drakes Beach Visitor Center where we'll raise our voices in song.

Experience the Lighthouse just before sunset and dusk, as many keepers have over the years. Participate in a unique opportunity to learn more about the Point Reyes Lighthouse.

Anniversary Woodward Fire Ecology Walks
Thu, Aug. 17, 10:00am

Join one of two hikes through the Woodward Fire burn zone three years post-fire. The first option, hike 1 (easy, 1.5 hours) will travel down Bear Valley Trail, while hike 2 (moderate, 2.5 hrs) will climb up Sky Trail.

Wed, Aug. 23 - Fri, Aug. 25

Writers, poets, and wordsmiths of all levels are invited to join this free, three-day National Park Service event. Each day will start with a mini lecture, followed by writing prompts, free writing blocks, and time to share.

Sat, Aug. 26, 9:00am - 3:30pm

It's time for the annual Sand Sculpture Contest at Drakes Beach. Registration begins at 9am at the Drakes Beach Visitor Center, judging begins at noon, and prizes will be awarded at 3pm!

Volunteer Opportunities
Sat, Aug. 5, 11:00am - 1:00pm

Volunteer with the National Park Service on August 5. Teams will support habitat restoration at North Beach or Abbotts Lagoon. No experience necessary!

Sat, Aug. 26, 11:00am - 1:00pm

Volunteer with the National Park Service! On August 26, work side by side with park staff to remove trash from Drakes Beach. Supplies provided.
