2022 GVBL Summer Rec League
Registration for GVBL Summer League ends on June 2nd

The end of the school year is rapidly approaching and time is running out to register for GVBL Summer League. There will be a maximum number of players due to limitations on court space.

GVBL Summer League Skills Assessment Schedule
This year, we will be going back to preseason skills assessments;these will be a smaller version of the GVBL winter league. We will take this opportunity to better evaluate each players ability allowing us to balance out each one of the teams. Skills assessments are especially important for the younger age groups. It gives them the opportunity to get out onto a court and play before the teams are made and the actual games begin. Please try to attend one of the following sessions that is appropriate for your child:

Team assignments will be completed on or about June 10th.
First set of games will begin the week of June 13th.
More Coaching Volunteers Wanted
We are continuing to look for volunteer coaches for a number of the divisions the GVBL Summer League. There will be no practices and most weeks just one game on Monday through Thursday nights. There are no refereeing duties.

GVBL is a local community league designed to just let the kids come out and have some fun playing basketball. If you have the time, please consider giving some of it back to the kids in our wonderful Great Valley community.

Do you miss GVBL coaches yelling at you? Do you miss calling fouls on 7 year olds? Do you miss your neighbors screaming "Bad Call Ref !!" ?

Then GVBL wants you back this summer!
 
We are looking for adults to referee alongside student referees and help mentor them throughout the season. Think about giving back some of your time to GVBL this summer, get a little exercise and help the kids. Participate as much as you would like through a weekly online referee sign-up form.

Adults interested in reffing should complete an Adult Referee Interest Form.

Caring Hands Food Drive
Caring Hands Food Drive - May 1-21
 
Caring Hands is hosting a food drive for the People's Pantry in Frazer. Food insecurity is a local issue and the People's Pantry in Frazer supports those right here in our Great Valley School District.
 
Everyone is welcome to fill a grocery bag with non-perishable items and bring it to the GVCO Community Center Complex during one of the soon to be determined drop off dates. GVCO will deliver the bags to the People's Pantry.

Caring Hands is a student-led volunteer group that supports the community through various activities. Students in grades 7-12 and their parents can sign up for the Constant Contact Caring Hands News distribution list for 2022-23.
GVFL Spring Fundraiser
K-1 Flag Football
Registration is open for K-1 Flag Football. Our K-1 Flag Football program is open to all students in and around the Great Valley School District. Students from all schools are welcome.
 
This league is run internally with all GVFL flag teams playing each other. The season begins in mid-September and lasts until early November. Games are one hour long and will be played on Saturday mornings at GVCO, 51 N. Bacton Hill Rd., Malvern .
Fall Tackle Football
Registration is open for Fall 2022 Tackle Football for Grades 2-6.
 
The Great Valley Junior Patriots is an instructional youth football program for kids within the Great Valley School District and surrounding communities in grades 2-6.
The Junior Patriots will provide all tackle players a helmet, chin strap, shoulder pads, and practice jersey for use during the season. These items must be returned at the close of the season. This year, registration costs also include a required personalized game-day jersey and game-day pants - includes padding. Players will own/keep these items at the end of the season and can reuse for future seasons, if they choose. Equipment hand-out and uniform sizing dates will be communicated by your head coach.

High School Interns
Fall 2022 - Spring 2023

 
GVCO is looking for several high school juniors or seniors to assist with programming and administrative responsibilities during the 22-23 school year. Hours would be 2 to 5 hours per week between 3pm-5pm Mondays through Fridays.
 
GVCO will work with you to create flexible scheduling around academic and extracurricular responsibilities. Compensation is $10 per hour. If interested, please complete the GVCO Internship Interest Form.
Summer Conditioning
Conditioning Choreography Clinics

The summer conditioning choreography clinics are for all athletes who are interested in training and enhancing their strength in anticipation of the fall sports season. These clinics are not inclusive of only cheerleaders, but for all boys and girls who want to get back outside and work out with other athletes. There will be a focus on exercises and drills for strengthening muscles used for cheer, but also benefits all athletes.

The clinics will be held on Thursday evenings and Sunday early afternoons in June and July 2022. The location will be within Great Valley School District.

Steps4Hope
2022 Steps4Hope 5k Run/1 Mile Walk
Great Valley High School on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at 9:00AM
 
Proceeds from the race will help us continue to assist essential local programs, awareness and educational events, grief support and provide much needed resources for those in early recovery. Steps4Hope is committed to raise awareness, end the stigma associated with the disease of addiction, and save lives.
 
Registration:

·    Registration fee is $20 for the walk or run until June 30th at midnight
·    Price increases to $25 on July 1st.
·    Virtual participation is $30 until October 9th at midnight
·    Day of registration: $30.

Later this Spring, a Cradles to Crayons Giving Spot Hub is coming to GVCO.
 
Cradles 2 Crayons Philadelphia supports people facing clothing insecurity in the Philadelphia region including Malvern and Chester County. The hub will be a convenient year round location for donations and a focal point for the annual Caring Hands collection drive this Fall. We are looking forward an even greater partnership with this wonderful organization.
