News & Updates from Make A Difference - Wisconsin

July 2016 - in this edition:
Watch: your impact on teenagers in our community

Financial education means more than budgets and bank accounts. For thousands of teens every year, it provides empowerment and a big step toward living independently.
And your support, partnerships and energy make this happen!

Our Money Coach students recently shared the vast impact financial literacy has had on them. As Anayeli, senior class president at Carmen H.S. ( right ), said:  "Money Coach changed my life and the lives of those around me."

First job provides a first shot at good financial habits

Volunteer Marc Colletti (left) mixes life advice with financial basics during a Money Sense lesson at United Community Center in Milwaukee.

Everyone remembers their first job. But do you remember what you did with that first paycheck?

Joshua, a teen who attends United Community Center, just had his first day of work. Thanks to a Money Sense lesson, Joshua is prepared to make good decisions with his first paycheck.
Fore brighter financial futures: sign up for CFA Society golf fundraiser

CFA Society Milwaukee will use its annual golf outing on Aug. 8 to raise awareness and support for our teen financial literacy programs. CFA Society plans to donate $20 from each registration fee at its annual day of golf, networking and fun toward Make A Difference - Wisconsin. There's still time to join in this generous fundraiser!

Calling all mentors! Money Coach opportunities for 2016-2017 school year

We're looking for additional volunteers to help expand our Money Coach financial mentoring program. Money Coach volunteers meet one-on-one and in small groups with the same group of teens monthly throughout a school year. Two-to-three Money Coach volunteers work together to prepare teens for life after graduation. These dedicated volunteers mentor teens and create lasting relationships that strengthen our community.

Email Stephaine Crosley, program manager, to find out more about this unique volunteer opportunity.
