Now, here's what's making news for the week of June 19, 2019:
City Council approves 2019-2020 operating budget
In a unanimous vote, the City Council approved the 2019-2020 operating budget and capital improvement budget. The 2019-2020 fiscal year budget includes Citywide expenditures of $67,068,090 with three operating fund types: General Fund, Special Revenue Funds and Internal Service Funds.

Pop Gun Rerun and Back to the Future this Thursday
Our Summer in San Gabriel series continues this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Marshall Park with a free performance by 80s' band Pop Gun Rerun and and a showing of Back to the Future.

Firefighters find all tragedies heartbreaking and of those, the most heartbreaking are tragedies that are preventable. That is the case every year when loved ones are left in a hot vehicle. Whether it’s an adult, child or pet, the results can be catastrophic. 

Here are several safety tips from the San Gabriel Fire Department on how you can protect your children or pet from a heated vehicle.
Two free events coming to the Playhouse
This Saturday, June 22 at 7:00 p.m., the Asian Arts Talents Foundation presents Forever Love. Experience the beauty of Chinese folk dance at this free event.

We hope you'll also visit the Playhouse on Thursday, June 27 at 7:00 p.m. for the first of three free outdoor summer jazz concerts featuring the talented ladies of Jazz in Pink!
Prevent the spread of Huanglongbing and save local citrus
If you plan on traveling this summer, be sure to avoid transporting citrus tree material due to the threat of the deadly citrus tree disease Huanglongbing.

In the past year, more Huanglongbing-infected trees have been spotted in Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties with the Huanglongbing quarantine area increasing by 47%. We need your help to ensure that Huanglongbing does not spread by following several tips outlined in the website below.
